  1. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, ESPN... http://i.imgur.com/TYpW4UD.png
  2. FWIW, Bleacher Report put out a revised Top Farm System rankings and had the Cubs listed #2 overall behind the Twins... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1723741-re-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-post-trade-deadline/page/30
  3. This all stemmed from a squeeze bunt? WTF?
  4. Why? The Law of Averages?
  5. Ha! I didn't know Wayne Randazzo was in the Cubs organization. I knew him briefly from his days as the Bay Bears broadcaster. He's a huge Cubs fan so it's fitting he's in the organization. Ironically, about half of the office staff for the Bay Bears were all die-hard Cubs fans.
  6. Also thought this was a little funny. For the last two years Jeremy Hellickson has enjoy some good luck and good defense, giving him above average marks at ERA, but his FIP and xFIP have been pretty terrible and everyone sort of expected him to fall back to Earth and be pretty ordinary at some point. He has a 4.60 ERA this year, whcih seems that his FIP and xFIP have finally caught up with him, here's the somewhat humorous part, though: 2011: 2.95 ERA / 4.44 FIP / 4.72 xFIP 2012: 3.10 ERA / 4.60 FIP / 4.44 xFIP 2013: 4.60 ERA / 3.90 FIP / 3.87 xFIP Basically his ERA and FIP's flipped. He has put up a 1.7 fWAR this season as a result. He had a 0.9 fWAR in 2012 and a 1.7 fWAR in 2011. So despite having an ERA that looks pedestrian and below average, he's on pace to have his most valuable season thus far as a pitcher.
  7. Apparently a) Henry Blanco is still playing baseball at age 41 b) He's on the Mariners c) He just hit his 2nd home run as a Mariner in 15 games played d) Both home runs were grand slams

  9. You can't even post a damn logo on a website without express written consent of major league baseball?
  10. I remember hanging out at someones house and there happened to be another Cubs fan there who said "So what do you think about the Cubs getting Nomar?" and I said "What the hell are you talking about?" at which point I was filled in. This was pretty much my reaction: http://i.imgur.com/Aouil.gif
  11. No one's gonna jump on this? Also, why would the Cardinals have an interest in Navarro? Molina on the DL. But no deal. According to multiple reports, STL wouldn't meet the Cubs' asking price. Ahh, had no idea Molina was on the DL. I was secretly hoping for an unexpected Biogenesis suspension :)

  13. Apparently some Braves friends of mine on Facebook have an anti-answer to the Killer B's... The Screw U's (Upton, Upton, Uggla). Braves fans are not happy with their siblings. Or Dan Uggla.
  14. God, just shut the [expletive] up already. http://i.imgur.com/5v3eRz2.jpg
  15. Also he's a massive chunk beast
  16. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/padres-focused-on-trading-relievers.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook Cubs sure could use a nice reliever
  17. Do Segura and Marte qualify? Marte played in 47 games and had 182 PA's last year and Segura played in 45 games and had 166 PA's last year. No. 130 AB's is the cutoff for rookie status, so neither are rookies
  18. Starling Marte is not a rookie, fwiw.
  19. If the Cubs agreed with that evaluation of his ceiling, they would have taken the rumored AA reliever. Whitley, I think it was? Plus, most are saying his change is a plus pitch. I'm guessing the Cubs either disagree with that evaluation or still prefer Black to other options. It sounds like Parks was just stating what he knew of him personally form seeing him pitch, and it sounds like he's inferring he hasn't seen a lot of him so he's just going off of what he knows.
  20. You got it... Chris Shelton. His final line that year ended up being 115 G .273/.340/.466/.806 with 16 HR and 47 RBI... which means after hitting 9 home runs in his first 13 games, he ended up hitting only 7 more over the next 102 games. After his 13th game he averaged one home run every 14.5 games. That gave him an HR/AB ratio of 46.
  21. You should take a glance at Steve Clevenger's game log from last year. Or Bryan LaHair's. Anyone remotely capable of being a major leaguer can have a 6 game stretch like this. It's awesome, exciting, and fun to watch, but it doesn't tell us anything about what will happen with that player in the future. my favorite crappy player with an amazing stretch has to be neifi perez's late 2004 and first couple months of 2005 Spoeaking of hot starts... let's see if anyone can guess this batting line to open a season... 13G 24H 51AB 9HR 17RBI .471/.500/1.216/1.716
  22. Some of the tags look right. He must be disabling BBCode for some reason. He doesn't use BBCode because... he lost a family member to BBCode once.
  23. For some reason when I think of Soriano, no matter what, the first thing that pops in my head was that hater around here who tried to coin the nickname "Sorry, I Know" for all of his poor play at the time he was criticizing him. The sheer ridiculousness of that attempt at making a pun is ingrained in my memory. And I hate it
  24. I don't have a recollection of that injury, but a quick Google search suggest that no... it's not as gruesome. That I know of. Kendall's looked like a compound fracture, I don't believe Hudson's broke skin. It was dangly, though.
