  1. Tough to know long-term, but considering they got Jean Segura who has put up a 3.6 bWAR and 3.3 fWAR so far as a SS (.325/.361/.481/.841 line) I'd say no, at this point in time. Segura is arguably the best SS in all of baseball at the moment.
  2. Soooooooo with Braun getting suspended for Biogenesis, and A-Rod seemingly next in line, that means others could be on their way out as well. Following notable players tied to them: Nelson Cruz OF, TEX Bartolo Colon SP, OAK Jhonny Peralta SS, DET Everth Cabrera SS, SD Melky Cabrera OF, TOR Yasmani Grandal C, SD Jesus Montero C, SEA Francisco Cervelli C, NYY This could be very good for the Cubs trading chips, yes?
  3. He was doing alright, relative to how he was doing before the surgery, but he still wasn't doing that great. A couple weeks ago he worked on a hitting adjustment with Manny Ramirez and since then has been doing really well.
  4. I'd take Odor over all of them, personally. Also, dependent on health and playoffs is soooo much better.
  5. Sure would be swell if the Rangers win the WS, Cubs got a nice prospect back, and then the Cubs sign Garza in the offseason.
  6. First a good return for Garza, now this? http://i.imgur.com/oM5y1ic.jpg
  7. .290/.410/.710 with 4 2B and 3 HR in last 31 at-bats. very small sample but does suggest he can see. That may have more to do with him adjusting his swing a bit. http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/_/id/9459392/texas-rangers-prospect-mike-olt-tapping-manny-ramirez-wisdom
  8. God, Kaplan. Just try to be intelligent, just once. I mean, there is a chance that Mike Olt will turn out to be good. Thus, Bryant would move to the OF. they're not going to move the guy they just spent $6 mil on just in case the blind guy hitting .210 in the PCL figures it out. I agree with the fact that they aren't moving Bryant off of third right now. But in the future they will if Olt in fact turns out to be good. You are correct, they will, but people like Kaplan and Ofman coming right out and proclaiming that Bryant is going to start learning a new position NOW is absurd.
  9. God, Kaplan. Just try to be intelligent, just once. I mean, there is a chance that Mike Olt will turn out to be good. Thus, Bryant would move to the OF. But the Cubs are not going to convert him over right away until there's a clear sign there's no room for him at 3B at the major league level. He loses a lot of value by moving off 3B. There's no reason for them to do that when Olt is not a guarantee to be manning 3B for the foreseeable future. It's the same reason they didn't move Baez off SS even though we've got Castro locked up long term.
  10. Yeah, as much as I like Olt's potential, I see him as an attempt to get serviceable 3B numbers out of him before flipping him to make room for whomever his ready to take is place, whether it be Bryant, Baez, Vitters, Villanueva... whoever.
  11. lol, saw that. They are really a special bunch. Bedard pitched like 6 or 7 1/3, gave up 1 hit, k'd 10 but still took the loss because he walked 5 and gave up 3 runs. He actually had a no hitter going. Bedard pulled himself out of his own no hitter because he had thrown 106 pitches and he said it wasn't worth risking another injury. Apparently he has a self-imposed 110 pitch limit. Said he's had 3 shoulder surgeries already and being able to play for another couple of years was more important to him than a no-hitter. Can't say I blame him.
  12. 4 Astros pitchers combined to strike out 15 Mariners and walk 6. Collectively the gave up 1 hit. No errors were committed in the game. They lost 4-2
  13. Really? Overwhelmed? You bought a lottery ticket and now you don't want to cash it in?
  14. Manny Ramirez just looked at video of his swing and helped him make a swing adjustment, apparently. That doesn't really mean anything, but... tidbits and fwiw and all that stuff.
  15. He's already rehabbing in double A. This was a guy that was supposed to miss the whole year and probably be done with his career, and now he'll undoubtedly be pitching game 1 of the World Series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFZrzg62Zj0
  16. Here's another one... http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9486828/misael-siverio-cuban-pitcher-tells-newspaper-defecting
