  1. Haha, Daytona had a double header of suspended games?
  2. Well at least two of them are our own prospects!
  3. http://blog.stevienova.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/star_wipe.jpg "And star wipe!" YES. When I was in college I was the jumbo tron operator for our basketball team. Someone before me had made this video that combined the stock animation of a basketball going into a hoop, followed by an absolutely horrendous MS Paint drawing of a butter tray and a stick of butter on it with the word "BUTTER" in Times New Roman underneath it on a white background. I threw that [expletive] up there every 3 baskets.
  4. The whole time, I was hoping for a replay showing more of the flight of the ball. It never happened. :( http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=30076931&sid=milb http://img.pandawhale.com/post-1371-MOTHER-OF-GOD-gifs-meme-pC3V.gif The video production guy in me is angry at this... they really need to hire a new production manager. Whoever is responsible selecting those camera angles is the worst at everything. And don't soft dissolve between angles. And don't cut 1/2 a second before the pitch crosses the plate to the center field camera you [expletive]. Ugh. But that home run was awesome
  5. Baez going into today for the 2013 season. It's so wonderful. 6. The whole time, I was hoping for a replay showing more of the flight of the ball. It never happened. :( At least it sounded beautiful
  7. It really does. I hope the NL adopts the DH for the sole purpose of allowing us to keep Vogelbach. A future lineup of Almora, Castro, Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Soler, Vogelbach, and Alcantara (or whoever else comes along) is kind of absurd if these guys are clicking on all cylinders. That's five 30+ home run threats. Maybe a few gold glovers (even though that term is more or less useless these days), a few 20-30 SB guys, a handful of 70+ BB guys. That lineup is pure awesomeness if it pans out (which is easier said than done, obviously)
  8. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9605439/pittsburgh-pirates-acquire-marlon-byrd-john-buck-new-york-mets-source-says The trading of John Buck essentially starts the Travis d'Arnaud era in New York. Adjust your fantasy leagues accordingly, if you prefer.
  9. And he singles out the next two weeks despite the person making note that he's been absolutely monstrous all month long. Also, 2 weeks does matter when it's within the context of a 6 week feast on AA pitching as a 20 year old making adjustments to the concerns many people had to begin the year.
  10. I asked it earlier in the thread, but seriously... why are teams pitching to him? He's got the 2nd most walks in the AL (2 behind Trout), and 5th most in the majors. Why is he not dwarfing Joey Votto's 101 walks right now? I get Prince Fielder hits behind him, but why would you pitch to the best hitter ever because the guy with .784 OPS hits behind him?
  11. OMG. I've don't think I've ever seen such an insane amount of late break like that.
  12. Three more to go. for what? he's on 35 home runs (17 for daytona, 18 for tennessee). the smokies have 5 regular season games left and you'd expect baez to sit out at least one since they've qualified for the playoffs. would be cool if he could make it to 40 when you take into account playoffs. To overtake George Springer for the minor league lead, I'd imagine. Also, George Springer looks like he's what Brett Jackson could've been if he didn't regress
  13. lmao what a dork. WHY ARE ALL PROSPECT EVAL GUYS SUCH LOSERS. wait i just answered my own question. I was going to say the same [expletive] thing. All the young pundits are nerdy wannabe hipster/douchebags. i think kyle's bit about parks being nothing but a middleman is probably true. these guys aren't scouts, they're just conduits -- i wonder if it's a sore subject that gets brought up to them from time to time. Hahaha, where's that tweet convo? I'd like to read that one. I know I mentioned the other day when it was happening why no one called him a middleman, but if Kyle actually did that I wanna read his reaction to it.
  14. Then just look at his unsustainable .421 BABIP and when it comes back down to Earth, so will he.
  15. I'm sure a) He's been tested at least once and b) If he was found to be cheating he'd have been suspended already Players get tested all the time. Back in January of 2012, Jose Bautista said he got "randomly" tested 16 times over the previous 2 seasons.
  16. Interesting development in LA...
  17. It's pathetic how he can't allow himself to NOT say that phrase just for once in his useless existence.
  18. Ha... forgot Bryan LaHair existed. He's really tearing it up in Japan... .238/.315/.446/.760
  19. With all the huffing and puffing Parks was doing about having people that provide him with reports and analysis every day I'm surprised no one trolled to call him a middleman.
  20. Jokes aside... Taveras in AA as a 20 year old OF: 124 G .321/.380/.572/.953 23 HR 94 RBI 10 SB 42 BB 56 K Baez in AA as a 20 year old SS : 43 G .307/.366/.659/1.025 16 HR 43 RBI 7 SB 17 BB 54 K I think I'll take the SS whose on a pace to dwarf the production numbers of the other guy. And unless my math is fuzzy (it might be), Baez's walk totals extrapolated out to a 124 game season come out more than Taveras'. Only thing Taveras has offensively that Baez will never match as far as I can tell is better contact rate. Javy is proving he can hit for average, power, and has improving patience and K discipline, and if I recall Brett's article correctly his defense has been loads better since the first handful of games he was in AA when he accrued a good chunk of the errors he's made. Taveras is a stud, no doubt, but Javy looks so much more valuable at this point to me given his elite power and ability to play SS. It kind of pisses me off that so many evaluators still don't appear to be buying into Baez's ability being better than previously touted prospects that he's clearly outperforming
  21. Mark Appel... not so much (yet).
  22. Holy crap, Werth's reaction is perfect.
