    I have a hard time seeing a deal. I feel the opposite. I think the only reason a deal can't get done is because either the Cubs are content with what they have (which wouldn't upset me, I like what we got here) or the Marlins, for whatever reason, want to hold onto him until the trade deadline and pray they can work out an extension before moving him, but it's pretty obvious Stanton has no interest in staying in Miami, and I think he'll let that be known to the team this offseason and then he'll hit the market. And if/when that happens I think the Cubs go shopping. And if other teams do, they won't be able to match what the Cubs can offer. There are fans of at least 15 teams writing the same thing right now, I guarantee it. About the Cubs? I agree. To be fair, if the Cubs didn't add Russell I think trading for Stanton becomes a moot point and doesn't happen.

    Equally true for like 20 other teams, though Except they can't offer up the goods to get him without crippling their team in some way. Seriously how many teams out there can deal the players required to get him without creating a problem elsewhere? Pittsburgh? Minnesota? They could probably do it, but would they be able to extend him? Probably don't have the financial means necessary to make a deal worth it. Texas, maybe? But their prospects have taken a bit of a hit in value have they not? All the top guys they could send over are injured. You could make the argument a team could trade one of their superstars for him, but in that situation, that superstar needs to be locked up cheaply or still in pre-arbitration otherwise the Marlins won't take on a big contract. Seriously the Cubs are the only logical and suitable team for the Marlins to deal with in regards to Stanton. I can't think of another team that fits the bill as well as them.

    I like to peruse the MLB.com home run video clips each day. Over the last month they've been posting these [expletive] videos about how the Brewers keep hitting home runs and giving highlight reels of all of them for the week. I don't know why but I hate seeing stuff like "Brewers continue to flex their power" when all I want to see are individual home runs fore the day. And all these videos consist of are like 4 home runs in each video. It's not hard for a team to hit 4 home runs a week, why the [expletive] are the Brewers getting the special treatment? I don't ever see a "A's mash the ball all week long" video. This probably belongs in rants, but whatever.

    Tough call. I think, arm injury aside, Bundy is as close to having elite pitching skill as you can get in a prospect. But the injury is an issue obviously. Castro just provides such an enormous value not just on the field but in the budget as well. I think I'd need more. Throw in Hunter Harvey and I need to think about it a lot harder, but I think Baltimore says no to that deal. The more I think about Castro, what he's doing, and how much he costs, the less I want to deal him. I'd rather deal an unknown commodity in Russell or Baez because a) there's still bust potential while Castro has already proven what he can do and b) I like the idea of Beane's philosophy of teams overvaluing prospects and I think the Cubs could easily exploit that idea. But in that aspect, you could move the prospects for legit MLB pitching instead of other prospects. On a side note, unrelated to Castro and stuff, I kind of want the Cubs to snipe Brian Matusz from the O's and Bosify him.
