  1. That's a good way of saying it. Very. Alcantara is good, and our front office is smart. They won't move him (or anyone else useful) unless it's likely on their terms. They're not in desperation mode. They should probably be in the driver's seat for any serious trade that happens from this point on.
  2. I think the possibility of Alcantara moving in a deal is certainly there, but I think he only gets moved with one of our better prospects for a huge name. Otherwise, there's really no CF option on the horizon as Almora will probably take a couple more years to get seasoning and McKinney will as well and by all accounts it seems he's more destined for a corner OF spot. Anything is posible, but for right now and for 2015, we kind of need Alcantara since it's obvious they're grooming Javy for 2B. We have no good CF'er really, and if they intend on competing in 2015, Alcantara should either be a huge part of those plans, or a part of bigger plans to acquire someone else, i.e. Stanton or a top end pitcher, though I don't think they'll trade for a pitcher, personally. To answer your question, I would be miffed if they traded Alcantara. I would only not be upset if we got someone like Stanton back in return, though. To me, that's the only option. Alcantara could be our sneaky under-the-radar superstar.
  3. Now that he'll likely be doing it from center field, I'm curious... instead of Jose Reyes light, could we consider him Carlos Gomez light. Is that a fair comp?
  4. Probably starting to think about opening up some pizza joints somewhere together
  5. Votto, maybe? He's got the long term contract.
  6. To be fair, it was delayed by rain for a while, that's why it ended late. It sure as hell didn't run long because of all the home runs that were hit. [expletive] Target Field.
  7. BREAKING NEWS: Kyle Schwarber season cut short due to promotion
  8. You'd need to send Russell or Castro over in the deal so Bryant can stay at 3B in that situation. Unless you want an OF of Bryant, Soler, and Stanton... then you need to move Alcantara. Long story short... you can't acquire Stanton without losing a spot for one these dudes somewhere deal. c - schwarber 1b - rizzo 2b - baez 3b - bryant ss - castro lf - soler cf - alcantara rf - stanton done and done. Then the deal that would need to get done isn't too far from what I've been preaching. Russell, Almora, and then replace Soler (in my dream proposal) with maybe McKinney and Edwards? Or whoever the hell else they want. Also, with the quality of bats we'll have in the OF, I really would rather the Cubs try and let Schwarber stick at catcher and try and see if they have the next Mike Piazza. Bad defense? No worries, we'll just hit 7 home runs next inning

  10. 510' projected. He might hit one out of the entire park
  11. Stanton is [expletive] ridiculous
  12. home run derby will soon just be cubs and joey gallo and stanton redundant http://i.imgur.com/q3DOZ.gif
  13. Lake just need to be sent back down to the minors. If he's going to provide any sort of value, it's not gonna happen until he fixes his awful approach at the plate, and I'd rather that be done at a place that doesn't take AB's away from someone who actually needs the AB's at the MLB level (Mendy, obviously). He could probably benefit from Manny's tutelage, anyways.
  14. I'm not normally an autograph hound, but I definitely want to try and get to some minor league games to grab Soler, Russell, Bryant, Baez, and Manny here in the coming weeks.
  15. Bryant really jelly donuted that ball
  16. Baez HR: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v34567671/2014-futures-game-baez-launches-a-tworun-home-run Stupid MLB.com starting the video mid pitch
  17. I do, hence my acknowledgement of him being really bad.
  18. $11 mil each year. $8 million signing bonus.
  19. I remember when the Pirates acquired him for Freddy Sanchez and being pretty jealous of the Pirates. Jesus he's been around forever, can't believe he's only 25. That said, his numbers are really bad. It'd be one thing if he had some MLB experience, but he has zero. and he's got awful numbers as a reliever, no less. He sure has pitched a [expletive] load of innings as a reliever in the minors, though
  20. I'll raise you CF Coghlan/Ruggiano (until one or both turn into pumpkins) SS Castro LF Bryant 1B Rizzo LF Soler 2B Al Contra 3B Baez C Castillo (or as Javy will call him, the guy who bats before the pitcher) Rotation: 1. Arrieta 2-5: whomever we pull off the scrap heap and turn into studs, trade them for younger versions of themselves, repeat process. Who's playing RF? Narf.
  21. He's been injured so much its easy to forget how great of a hitter he is. Also FUTURES GAME! Did anyone hear what Bryant said in his pregame interview? At a bar and they're all watching the stoopid world cup
