  2. I don't buy that derby curse hullabaloo
  3. Seriously. His timetable can't be screwed with because of his contract right? So he can move quickly without any sort of arbitration or team control penalty? There's no reason for them not to be like "Yeah, he's better than this" and move him up.
  4. So Rizzo makes the ASG and expressed and interest in being in the home run derby, and instead the final spot in the derby goes to Justin Morneau, who lost out to Rizzo in the final roster vote. I get that it's pandering to the Minnesota crowd, but I'm kind of pissed about Rizzo not being in the HR Derby, especially considering he earned the right to be there in the first place and he straight up said he'd love to be in it, and he's got the 3rd most HR in the National league (behind two guys who are in the HR derby and the ASG). Lame. Also, Josh Donaldson was the last add to the HR derby for the AL squad
  5. Has anyone noticed how good Michael Brantley is this season? Jesus. .326/.386/.524/.911 15 HR 63 RBI 10 SB 0 CS 30 BB 32 SO 157 OPS+ 4.0 rWAR 3.8 fWAR
  6. Holy [expletive]. I mean I guess I knew it had only been a year, but it seems so crazy when you think he wasn't even a part of this organization 366 days ago. 40 HR's in 128 games over the calendar year. That's good stuff, roughly the equivalent of a full minor league season. Full stats: http://i.imgur.com/8ZMNzXe.jpg So in a full season's worth of stats 51.5% of his base hits have been for extra bases. That's insane.
  7. I think we should call Candelario home runs Candeljacks, because that wa

  10. Eat his contract and trade him to Japan just so we don't have to see his face
  11. He's already made more than enough contact. With our hearts.
  12. not getting at anything besides he's making himself look bad Hey now, 51% of the country wants to legalize weed. He's a man of the people!

  14. It was a joke that Sale wasn't already on the roster to begin with. Dude's got a 194 ERA+ with 102:16 K:BB ratio in 95 IP and is already worth 4.2 rWAR and 3.2 fWAR. He's [expletive] great.
  15. Since 6/11 (1 month, 31 games), 50% of those walks have come in the last month. He had 9 games before 6/11 where he had zero strikeouts (53 games). Since then he's had 8 games with zero K's. It's not great by any means, but it does show progress which is what we want from Javy. He's still ridiculously young, so if he keeps up the trend things will be looking up for him next year.
  16. I think so, but in case you missed the article posted earlier, players don't get suspended for recreational drugs at the MLB level if that's what you were getting at.
  17. Were we supposed to vote for Porcello or something?
  18. Wow. Did he really not mention Javier Baez as one of the best power bats for the World Team? That seems like a very egregious error
  19. Keither Law did a breakdown of the Futures Game and listed the best tools among all the players. I don't have Insider but the preview before the pay wall he declared Joey Gallo as having the power power of the bunch. Anyone with Insider see if he mentioned Bryant or Baez?

  22. GARDENHOSER! ROSENBAGGER!
  23. That's how it was growing up in the Tampa area pre-Rays and Marlins. And even after they showed up, people still cared more about the Braves. The Southeast is also maybe the worst blackout region in the country. Being in Mobile, AL I'm blacked out from all Marlins, Rays, Braves, and Astros games. Nevermind the fact the closest team I can drive to see is 5 hours away. The Marlins are like 12 hours away. "Sorry, even though you're paying us to watch this game, you can't watch it! Why not buy a ticket and $250 in gas to go watch the game in person?" MLB Blackout rules might be one of the most infuriating things in my world.
  24. I'm gonna say true EDIT: I win!
