  2. Then the Cubs will either play spoiler and be fun to watch or they'll get their asses kicked and yay draft pick!

  4. Bad news on the toe would suck, but thankfully it's just a toe and not something worse
  5. Olt is also reunited with Manny, who helped him a bit in Texas before he was traded. That could be part of his turn around as well
  6. It's like one of the Jon Stewart fake segment titles. http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/u2ckx6/thursday-night-law

  8. Or let them pitch around you and draw a walk for once so Rizzo and Castro have men on base, plz. Also "Javy Baez" doesn't yield a result in B-R and that pisses me off. But Javi Baez does Scripting technicality! Scripting technicality!

  10. yep. i want him so badly. give them soler/baez/pierce Soler is literally the only one that gives me pause. I wouldn't blink if anyone else went. i'm not going to say that i wouldn't trade soler for stanton, but i'd much rather give up anyone else before him So I just realized, partially thanks to Brett's article on Stanton, that Stanton is not a FA after next season. He's under arb until the end of 2016. So he's still under control for 2 more seasons. This whole time I was under the assumption that he was a FA after 2015 because I thought I read somewhere in a preseason outlook that he was either going to be traded or extended because he'd only have one year left in Miami in 2015. Sooooo yeah, he's got 2 more years of team control. Not sure if everyone knew that. That will definitely drive the price up, but because of that I think it makes it even harder for other teams to give what they need to move him, and leaves the Cubs as the only team with the resources to pull it off. To have Stanton under control for two more years instead of one is waaaaaaaay better, and even makes the idea of moving our guys for him without an extension in place easier to swallow.
  11. Hit tracker said this Stanton home run went 484 feet earlier this season: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=31823267&c_id=mlb&topic_id=vtp_longest_drives They said the one I had posted from last night *only* went 470 feet. Would've suspected the one last night went further. 484 footer: 470 footer: Oh yeah, he also made this catch last night: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/51231442/v35283271/stlmia-stanton-makes-amazing-diving-catch-on-track/?query=stanton
  12. Even if he wanted to win more, the Cubs are an attractive franchise to hitch his wagon to right now
  13. I think Stanton just hit the longest home run of the year. Shelby Miller left a hanging breaking ball right over the middle of the plate... http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v35281843/stlmia-stanton-smashes-second-homer-of-the-game
  14. i think that's jaxon shame on you He may dress like Hayes but he pitches like [expletive]
  15. I totally misinterpreted that as CJ Edwards saying it
  16. High socks yes, stirrups no thank you. Whoever is on the far right in the blue socks in that photo, I'd be happy with that get up
  17. Harrison is hitting for good power without hitting a lot of home runs. He's also not drawing a lot of walks, though. Is it reasonable to think that Alcantara could, one day, put up numbers similar to what Harrison is doing this season? Except add more OBP and less AVG for Alcantara? Seems like the numbers Harrison is heading toward seem awfully similar to what we hope Alcantara could be (15-20 homers, 30 doubles, 25-30 sb, etc.) Also, good for Harrison. As much as it pains me to think we could have guys like him and Donaldson in the lineup, I honestly had no clue he existed when he was traded, so it's nice to hear about guys who were sort of afterthoughts go on to become quality players. Good for him.
