  1. Shouldn't they hire the scouts that send him reports on what to say instead?
  2. The more these guys rake the more I lament the possibility of trading them, but at this point if they're being moved, it's Stanton or bust. He's literally the only person (who is conceivably available for trade) that any of these guys should be moved for. If he's not available, then they need to keep all the big ticket guys. Pitching can be bought for the team and supplemented with what we have. But this offense, with or without Stanton, will be impressive
  3. I don't know why but I laughed at a mental image of Soler handing out hand written reports to each player on the Cubs as if Manny had been watching the games in his spare time writing notes for everyone and was like "Hey, Jorge! Pass it on" with Soler going to each guy and saying stuff like "Ooohhh, Ryan Sweeney, Manny's got some good stuff for you!" and everyone rabidly devouring the info right in front of Bill Mueller's sad face.
  4. Yes he is. I brought it up last time we faced him, but just to reiterate the hate people should have for him, Kris Bryant hit home run off of him in his first rehab outing of the season during his first AB. IIRC he hit the first pitch thrown for a home run. Latos thought that was bush league of him and plunked him in his next AB because how dare this guy play a [expletive] baseball game against him, amirite? .
  5. Copy that. Thanks guys.
  6. Good to know. Thanks! Are Upper Deck season tickets also the cheapest? Or are those the bleachers? Sorry for the 20 questions. EDIT: I am 65,839 on the list. Yay.
  7. I've sat all over the place at Wrigley before and actually preferred the bleachers, but for season tickets I'm not sure I'd want to be relegated to that for a full season. They're asking what an ideal location would be, what, in your guys' opinion is best? Upper Deck - Infield Upper Deck - Outfield Lower Bowl - Infield Lower Bowl - Outfield I liked the freedom of the bleachers, but if I knew I had the same seats reserved each time that'd be nice, but at the same time would the bleachers move me quicker through the queue?
  8. Damn, thanks. I'll sign us up now then, probably not gonna do much good. My brother signed up in the mid 2000's when they were competitive. Took a couple awful seasons to get bumped to the top, probably not gonna happen again for the forseeable future. Thanks for the heads up! :good:
  9. should've gotten one ticket in a night/weekend package or something (or maybe two to make them more sellable) I would've liked to have gotten anything, but at the time we were both cash strapped and couldn't even afford that. It was really bad timing :( Do they recycle your name in the wait list after that or do you need to re-sign up?
  10. A tasteless play on Gleybar Torres' name that was apropos of nothing
  11. Fangraphs lets you sort on 'active players' when looking at team totals to help understand the current team's production, and Cameron used that as the main point in a quick article about why the Cubs rotation was still fine without Shark and Hammel. Problem was that table had a bug and was still including Shark and Hammel in the totals. Directionally the point he was making was still sound(the state of the Cubs rotation post-trade is underrated), but the magnitude(the Cubs without Shark/Hammel have like the 6th best rotation in MLB) was not close to being right. Ahhhhhh, gotcha. That explains a lot
  12. My brother had an opportunity to get season tickets two offseasons ago. I told him it'd be worth it in a couple years, but he couldn't justify the price at the time, and I didn't have the money to go half in on it with him. Wish we could've done it. I imagine the season ticket wait will go much slower now.
  13. Baez's P/PA is 4.26. Brian Dozier is the qualified leader at 2B with 4.19. The only unqualified players with the same or higher are Brooks Conrad (4.26 in 13G), Andy Parrino (4.32 in 14G), Jemile Weeks (4.54 in 3G), and Tony Abreu (4.75 in 3G). 4.26 would rank 7th among all qualified position players Well it takes at least 3 pitches to strike out, and Javy is striking out in over 40% of his PAs. I'm not completely discrediting that statistic, its good and he is working the count more than you'd think but I think that explains some of it. Indeed. K'ing is probably boosting that number up, but to his credit, he has worked a lot of 2 or 3 ball counts... granted he usually strikes out when that happens, but still. As someone who hasn't really seen any of his AB's in the minors, only his box score numbers, I've always been under the impression he would hack at everything. So far his numbers seem to indicate he's being selective, though a lot of it looks like it might be a lot of guess work as opposed to smart calculated pitch selection
  14. I keep seeing the Cameron blunder referenced, but I missed the boat on that apparently. Has he been writing articles based on faulty information or something?

  16. Ted Williams was 20 and Joe DiMaggio was 21 when they debuted, not 27.
  17. I love what this thread became
  18. I also made this because I'm a monster. A bored monster. http://i.imgur.com/58Wj5mV.jpg
  19. Or if you want it a little more OG than that... http://i.imgur.com/TGLeFNq.jpg
  20. I thought about adding the Helvetica font, but I thought it looked a little weird. FWIW, I did it anyways... http://i.imgur.com/vZIxYQu.jpg
  21. Not gonna lie, I forgot all about him... but I was going based off of an actual possible lineup. I also ordered in the order of callups/tentative callups
