  1. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ Last night, Club Brugge beat Toulouse 1-0 to advance in the Europa league.
  2. not really sure if you didn't understand my post or something. I understand that in ERA the "A" stands for average, which implies a sufficient sample size. One game isn't a sufficient sample size, imho. I'm not commenting on the opinions expressed in this thread, merely pointing out that a flawed argument has been presented.
  3. Singular: he got a result that day. Arguing the relative value of a statistic on a one game sample size is generally a bad idea, imho.
  4. No surprise there, just a tactical move. I hope Cotts recovers well enough to merit a return to the majors.
  5. This should make things interesting: the IBAF (that stands for International Baseball Federation) elected a new board this week. Riccardo Fraccari (Italy) is the new president; his predecessor was Harvey Schiller(USA), but also elected (as one of the vice presidents) was Antonio Castro Soto del Valle(Cuba), one of Fidel's sons.
  6. Awesome finish to tonight's CL game between Standard Liège and AZ Alkmaar. In the 95th minute, Liège equalised to earn a place in the Europa League with a header by Bolat, their goalkeeper.
  7. Bayern are in trouble in the CL trailing 1-0 after 25' at Juventus (and needing a win to advance) Entertaining game to watch on TV so far. 8-)
  8. Harden made it known that he wanted to stay with the Cubs too. So maybe Hendry just wants him back at a lower price than arbitration would have been settled on.
  9. The alternative was France, which would currently have been a PR disaster? I think it's a damage control move. That said, I'm quite happy with Oranje being seeded. They'll go nuts again across the northern border here. 8-)
  10. Final draw procedure for the World Cup has been announced: Pot 1 : Brazil, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Argentina, England and South Africa. Pot 2 : Australia, Japan, Korea DPR, Korea Republic, Honduras, Mexico, USA and New Zealand Pot 3 : Algeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay Pot 4 : Denmark, France, Greece, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland Worst case scenario for you guys: Brazil, USA, Cameroon, France Best case scenario: South Africa, USA, Ghana, Slovenia
  11. I like Fukudome's response. 8-)
  12. Well, there's always Aaron Miles.
  13. Well the ad revenue might as well go to the Cubs, so this seems like a logical step.
  14. I like this trade. Much better than throwing money at both Grabow and Heilman in 2010 Let's just hope the Cubs identified the right prospects.
  15. How about: Brazil The Netherlands Cameroon USA 8-)
  16. Now the Irish FA and their Justice minister will ask FIFA for a replay. They have zero chance, imho.
  17. The league started last week (on 11/12), with Jovan Rosa as the only player from the Cubs organization on any of the rosters (he's with Criollos de Caguas). Judging by their team stats, he hasn't seen any action yet through five games.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised to see a typical French metamorphosis and see that exact same side (with Ribery added) play with a lot of flair in SA to advance past the group stages. And, fwiw, contrary to Maradonna, Henry admitted it was handball immediately after the game (he even claimed to have said it to the ref after the goal)
  19. Has Von Joshua actually accepted to go back to his previous job? I haven't read any confirmation about that yet.
  20. And the Onion chimes in with their take on McGwire. Somewhat predictable. :-))
  21. During a disappointing second half like this year, is it hard to separate between Bruce-the-fan and Bruce-the-reporter?
  22. Adriano Galliani (Milan's CEO) has stated that Beckham is going back there for another spell starting in January. That won't change what you posted, of course. :-))
  23. It's mindboggling to me that anybody would be behind Miles at this point. ](*,)
