  1. Inevitably, that did get mentioned in the Tribune article link that was posted.
  2. This only makes sense if they shut Soto down for the season - if they can't get him going on the field, they sure as hell are not going to get him going while sitting on the bench. The only logic (if that's what you can call it) behind this could be: 1. Fox is needed in the field (Soriano's knee) making the "solution" used when Soto was on the DL unavailable 2. Iowa and Tennessee are trying to make the playoffs so their catchers are unavailable too.
  3. Til the end of the year would be fine by me.
  4. Or not. :-)) Who could have predicted such drama at the Oval?
  5. That'll be after the group stages in december: best two from each group (=24) + the third place teams from Champion's League groups (=8)
  6. Follow-up: the front office (speaking for the club, the players and the coaches) put out a press message today explicitly thanking the fans for the way they "unconditionally" supported the side before, during and after the game. 8-) A group of Shakhtar Donetsk, Partizan Belgrade and Toulouse seems pretty tough, and not very attractive either.
  7. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: My boys make it to the group stage of the Europa league on a penalty shootout. I'll take it.
  8. Liège should be extatic: the big name + the short bus trip (with four Belgian internationals in their squad) + the fellow lunatic fan base
  9. Confirmed, for 16 million euro.
  10. What if nobody takes Miles? Send him to play for the French Cubs at Chartres (yes, there is such a team)
  11. About time too - I was getting worried. I guess he'll be a bit rusty though.
  12. LOL @ Molina being picked off :-))
  13. Well that was an emphatic win by Australia. Now everything hinges on the final test at the Oval.
  14. Especially the ones pitching for the opposing team. 8-)
  15. this surprised me - not even the obligatoiry PTBNL phrase.
  16. That'll be fun. :D Anderlecht vs Lyon for local interest here. 8-) And my boys vs Lech Poznan for a spot in the Europa League groups.
  17. Sounds like NSBB after a Cubs loss. :-)) :-))
  18. Especially at the Oval, where this Ashes rivalry started in 1882.
  19. Not sure where this belonged, so I'll put it here. Scouts get another chance to look for possible international signings at the MLB European Academy in Tirrenia (Italy) between 08/11 and 08/29. Selected youngsters from different countries take part - the list by number of players: 16: The Netherlands 8: Italy, Germany 5: Spain, France, Czech Republic 2: South Africa, Sweden 1: Uganda  , Austria, Lithuania en Belarus The youngest is 14 yr old Ugeth Urbina Machado from Spain. Since it started in 2005, 35 of 158 players have signed with MLB organizations.
  20. Please do; you can enjoy watching a test match for five days and discuss the progress here. Annoying any posters while doing so is just an added bonus. 8-)
  21. Huntelaar to Milan, according to reports. Milan would pay 15 million, a lot less than the 27 million Real payed to get him last December. At eight goals in 19 games for them, you can do the math. :-))
  22. The fact that you don't like it doesn't make it bullcrap.
  23. It's been reported that Standard is asking 20 million euro for Steven Dufour - he was rumored to be Real's back-up plan if they didn't get Alonso.
  24. Rostering Gaub is a no-brainer to me; if they roster Colvin it's because they still don't want to admit his pick (at that draft spot) was a mistake. I also think they'll protect Papelbon, Parker and one of Clevenger or Castillo (probably the latter) For some reason, I don't see the Cubs rostering Maestri. I'm a fan of Alessandro, but the Cubs probably think he won't get picked anyway.
