    I'm not saying you should, but CIV are a highly regarded side, currently 16th on the FIFA ranking, only two places below USA. And yes, I know those rankings are flawed.

    Um, someone who lives baseball metrics every day *is* a sabermetrician. You know exactly what I meant. Won't say anything further to you if you insist upon misinterpreting everything. If you meant something different than what you said, then that's a you problem. I think you meant to ask, does a baseball player understand statistics better than a statistician. I would expect the answer to be no. Good man. Now apply the same logic to psychology, more specifically the effects of "negativity" on performance. 8-)

    So that's 38 on the 40 man roster, leaving the option of adding 2 without waiving or releasing anyone.

What a mess. Ghana and Ivory Coast are looking at dropping too. According to ESPN, the Togo players have voted to play, in order to honor the ''memory of the dead.'' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=723184&sec=global&cc=5901 According to this BBC report, the government of Togo officially withdrew the team from the competition, but the players will play anyway. No confirmation of Obilale's death either. Stay tuned ....

    That report doesn't mention if it's a "free to move on if not added to the roster by a certain date" type of deal. Worth taking a flyer on, I guess.

    US U20 international Jared Jeffrey will move from Club Brugge to FSV Mainz (currently 9th in the Bundesliga) in January. Interesting choice.

    I have literally never heard of this guy He pitched a no-hitter for the Netherlands against Panama in the first WBC. Now you're making up country names. March 10th 2006 in Puerto Rico. Randall Simon and Ivanon Coffie were also on that team. :shock:

    Theriot should be shopped while he still appears cheap enough for other teams, but this being the Cubs there's no way this happens.

    The way I see it, the Cubs traded a player they couldn't use (because he's a head case) for another player they can't use (because he sucks) and saved a couple of million in the process. They're still stuck with a 24 man roster.
