  1. The Reds have enough pieces in place to be scary in another year or two, so I'd like to see Dusty keep hanging around there in the mean time. Yeah but that's what happened here. Next thing you know by the end of the contract Dustbag had wrecked Prior, wrecked Wood, wrecked Patterson, killed the morale of Ramirez, had Theriot swinging at everything (in the few atbats he was given), and would be sitting Soto and Fontenot right now while burning out Marmol's arm as well. For the sake of Cueto, Votto and the rest of the Reds prospects Gillick should get rid of Dusty sooner than later.
  2. Yep. I died laughing when I heard this. Desperate teams do desperate things.
  3. Haha. "The poor play isn't his fault. But uh, I'm firing him anyway at 3am." This is the guy that was once called one of the 5 best GMs in baseball. I'm guessing that this wasn't Omar's call. Bad execution but for the right reasons though. I thought Omar said it was his call all the way, and ownership said the same. This was from blurbs I heard on the radio though, and I'm too lazy to look it up. I don't know, soul. Hard to believe it's Minaya's call to have done it this way. I mean...would you voluntarily fly clear across the country at the drop of a hat at the start of the road trip, meet with your manager after a game in the middle of the night to fire him, then take a nap and fly back to NY the next day? This is dysfunctional thinking. It has Wilpon written all over it.
  4. I really cant deal with Hank Steinbrenner. The man is a buffoon. It's one thing when you are George Steinbrenner and have singelhandedly(sort of) turned the Yankees into an empire. Then By all means, spout off, as he has all these years. You've earned the credibility and your place in the headlines. But when you just inherited your daddy's toy this year? LMAO. Puh-leeze.
  5. This is probably one of the best pitchers to sit him against. RT is young and studly! He should be able to play everyday. Haha. Good point tho. If there was a ever a reason to sit him, it is because of Halliday.
  6. The BlueJays lineup doesn't make much sense either. Whats this? Slowpoke and strikeout artist Stairs batting #2, Eckstein batting 8th? I guess Dusty made out the Toronto lineup as well.
  7. No Ryan Theriot? I can see why they would want a lefty(Fontenot) in against Halliday, but Theriot is definitely the better hitter.
  8. It takes two to deal. If I'm a GM, and Jim Hendry calls me desperate, I just assume he'll be even more desperate in a month. All we ever hear about these days is Sabathia getting moved at the deadline. I don't know about you guys but he's awful this season. Who else is out there that may be had? It seems like it's going to be a tough market for starting pitching.
  9. Tough to read this. I wonder if he call pull off a comeback at his age. If not, it was an awesome career. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3425461
  10. Chase Utley for Alph Soriano. LMAO! No way I an giving up Utley.
  11. lmao! And it isn't even June yet! That's awesome!  http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x368248088/Ryno-run-in-seventh-Chiefs-fall-5-3
  12. Speaking of bad Mets signings, Martinez has got to be as bad as Beltran. They give the guy what, a 5 year deal without a physical? Even after Pedro had a history of injury trouble in Boston. 2005 was Pedro's best season where he pitched 200+ innings with a 2.82 ERA. 2006 he was hurt and pitched 130 innings. 4.48 ERA 2007 he was hurt again and pitched 28 innings. 2008 going into June he's hurt and has pitched 3 innings. They've spent over $50 million on him so far with not much to show for it.
  13. How many pitches is this for Saito already? Wow!
  14. Because they've been watching 83 MPH sliders dropping out of the zone all night. Those fastballs looked 200 MPH the way they were swinging late. that shouldn't matter, they know this guy has 2 pitches and he throws one more than the other. even if they see a good slider, he's bound to come back with a fastball, they should have just sat dead red. You can sit dead red on a fastball, but as soul says---when you've been looking at lowballs and sinkers all night from Lowe, your timing on 97 mph gas is going to be off the first time you see this guy tonight. Next time through the order against Broxton( If it had been possible) they'd be better prepared to make adjustments.
  15. The best chance he had in this atbat was with that 83 mph slider. Too bad he watched it go by for a strike 2.
  16. This Broxton guy is blowing these guys away. They cant catch up to him. Man thats some serious heat right there.
  17. Nonsense. If Dusty was still managing the club Z would be good for at least 115 piches his next start.
  18. Thats what I was thinking. He's the crazy riotous uncle from out of town that comes over on Thanksgiving Day and knocks us all dead.
  19. LMAO! The guy is killing me. The only thing that is certain in baseball is that nothing in this game is certain.
  20. How sad is it that the best offense in baseball loses to the great Shawn Chacon? While we are at it.....when oh when are the Cubs finally going to get smart and NOT pitch to Carlos Lee?? He has been killing Cubs pitching since his White Sox days. Someone in the Cubs organization ought to know this by now.
  21. Come on! If Joe allowed a catcher to appeal every check-swing it could add an extra 20 seconds to the game. Selig would never allow that.
  22. What is the story with West, cracking the whip and busting everyone's butt over the time tonight? It's BASEBALL!! It's a leisurely game, always has been. Forget this "speeding up the game" business, already. It's timelessness is what makes it great.
  23. What is Sexson, like 6 foot 9 or something? He probably freaked out because he'd never seen a pitch that high before.
  24. channel 26 broadcast, so shouldn't that be it Is it just my feed here at home or is this broadcast absolutely terrible. Its all fuzzy, can't even read Cueto's name on the back of his jersey. It looks like the game is being broadcast in 3-D.
