  1. Nah. I could be wrong but that doesn't seem very Sandberg-like. He was never one to make excuses or to make complaints. He was(and is) an old-school gamer who worked hard and played hard. I honestly believe he thinks that steroids cheapen accomplishments and his respect of the game is what is behind his comments.
  2. And of course......When Dusty is asked about this in the near future he will say he knew nothing. He saw nothing.
  3. Hooray! Another menace out of the division. "Cubs don't have to get better, the other teams just have to get worse". :-)) So who's left now? Braun, Carlos Lee and Pujols?
  4. He's a senile and crazy old man, which is amusing. But the stuff that happened to his son? *Sigh* "Hey man, it was cancer. Got it? "
  5. Tommy Lasorda is at the game today. He is awesome! I hope they get him up into the booth. The guy is a million laughs.
  6. Yeah I saw that game yesterday. Poor guy, what a meltdown. His ERA went up over 8 after that. Superstitiously, it Looks like the goatee is gone after last night's disaster but the shave hasn't helped. He's fallen behind every hitter tonight and just walked the bases loaded.
  7. That's just Harold being Harold. He's the biggest player apologist in the business. Every player is just amazing and great and terrific and all the rest. He even went so far as to put part of the blame on MLB teams, saying that part of the problem is that these players are allowed to seek treatments from their own doctors(Gasp!) instead of exclusively getting all treatment from the team doctors. "Teams are so strict players cant even make a phone call out of the clubhouse without a list of numbers and call recipients, yet when it comes to their own health they are allowed to see whatever physicians they want". This is crazy. Harold is taking all responsibility of what goes in and out of their bodies off of the player.
  8. I'm pretty sure the current one is 50/100/life keener's probably thinking of the original steroid policy, which was: 1st offense: lose hot tub privileges 2nd offense: mean letter from commissioner's office 3rd offense: stern face to face talking-to by bud selig. 4th offense: 1 game suspension 5th offense: 2 game suspension ... 500th offense: permanent ban from baseball. Haha, thats great. Also yea I was thinking of the 1st drug policy. Plashke is ripping Manny a new one on ESPN right now, he certainly doesnt believe the Manny story. It's the absolute opposite on MLB network. Reynolds is practically apologizing for him, saying that he "has no doubt that soon Ramirez will come out and talk about it," and he is certain "that Ramirez will tell the truth about all of this and of everything that happened". Only Costas had the stones to call out Manny Ramirez on the program.

  10. Didn't see that one coming... Even if that's the case and it was prescribed by a doc, the guy has to be nuts in this day and age to take it without talking to the team doctor first or getting clearance from MLB. Maybe a couple of years ago you could see this mixup happening(JC Romero) but today there is no excuse for it.
  11. Brenly is right on. Harden's changeup is unreal today. He's making a lot of these Brewers hitters look pretty bad.
  12. I'd be suprised if they do make it to the playoffs this year. I am expecting however, that this Royals team should finish at or above .500 this season. Anything else is a bonus. They remind me of the Rays of a few years ago. Enough talent they are close to contending, but have yet to get all the pieces in place. Maybe in another year or so they'll get there.
  13. This has to be a joke, right? http://www.comcast.net/sports/writethatdown/1272/timetolooklikefools/ lmao that the Reds will contend all the way until September.
  14. A chick that talks baseball and poses with a bat on her shoulder is always attractive.
  15. Trennie K is hotter. :D
  16. Pardon me for posting this non-story. It just cracks me up how every season it is the same old threatening mantra "Win Or Else", and the same old drama with the Yankees. This time it is Girardi on the hot seat. Win or else? Or else what.... Howard? Or else Girardi does like Joe Torre did and heads off to another team in 2010 and maybe actually makes the playoffs? Or else he might go to a team who doesn't live by the free agent, and die by the free agent every season? Or else he goes to a team where he can actually coach players instead of babysit a bunch of rich primadonnas? How scary! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview09/columns/story?columnist=bryant_howard&id=4037320
  17. I've been watching it since it started. This is awesome! So far the only gripe is Mitch Williams. What is he doing there? Anyone else catch last night's table discussion of the AL Central? Wild Thing Williams spend a few minutes talking about Cleveland's new closer Kerry Wood. Says his mechanics are still all screwed up, and if he'd get a higher leg kick and use his legs more he'd get an even more explosive fastball and would not risk himself to injury. lmao that Williams with the worst mechanics I have ever seen would be saying anything about anyone's pitching delivery.
  18. Absolutely. And what's scary, even with CC and AJ on board, the Yankees rotation is arguably the 3rd best rotation in the AL East. How about the bullpen? Their pen other than Chamberlain was pretty bad last season. Any of you guys see any real viable options here other than Marte and Rivera? And maybe Hughes?
  19. More of the same from the Yanks. This, even more than the CC signing has got Carl Pavano part 2 written all over it.
  20. The Yanks never learn do they? I wonder how much of that 160 mil he is actually going to earn? CC is bound to blow out that arm or shoulder soon.
  21. The postseason has absolutely nothing to do with the voting. I know. Thats why I changed my post. Lou is living proof as to why it would be nice if they waited until after the World Series to choose a winner. Even if you changed your post your wording still implies that the voting was after the postseason. He didn't really get the award after two straight 3-and-outs. He got it before the second; it just wasn't announced until after. All of the awards are voted on before the postseason but not announced until after. tsk..tsk....picky picky. Should I change the wording of my post again specifically for you? Give me a stinking break here. Where in the sentence "Lou is living proof as to why it would be nice if they waited until after the World Series to choose a winner. " do I imply that the voting for MOY was after the postseason? Esplain it to me, Lucy.
  22. I just saw this on tv. I am stunned.......I can't believe it.
  23. The postseason has absolutely nothing to do with the voting. I know. Thats why I changed my post. Lou is living proof as to why it would be nice if they waited until after the World Series to choose a winner.
  24. It's sad that Lou gets it after two straight 3-and-out playoff appearances. Especially this year's post season debacle. So what if they got 97 wins? This team has underachieved big time in the playoffs. They should take that into consideration and vote for MOY after the World Series.
  25. I can't see it happening either. Wood has taken shots and has joked about the Mets for (what seems like) as long as he has been a Cub. I think he hates them as much as Santo does.
