All time favorite is Stone. People love to talk about his pitch selections and predictions...but I liked him because he knows and talked the ENTIRE game, all the teams and he is one of the best teachers of baseball throughout his commentary that I have ever heard. He knows GM's. He knew MLB teams, He knew MLB players. He knew other teams minor leaguers and prospects. He knew hitters hot zones and weak areas. He knew that Zambrano's sinkerball isn't going to work unless he tones it down to 90-92, knew that Wood's shoulder was going to be doomed overthrowing his pitches with his altered mechanics coming back from his elbow surgery, and that Derrick Lee's weakness in 2003(since has become a much better hitter) was away pitches. Told us all that Jim Edmonds is an easy out if you give him high inside heat, and that whatever you do-don't pitch to Cards sub Eli Marrero. Career .250 hitter(or something like that), but he kills the Cubs at Wrigley Field. While guys like McCarver, Morgan, etc... are criticizing pitchers for missing their targets as the catcher holds the mitt inside while a runner is on base, Stone is the only one to ever point out that it is a purpose ploy---so that the runner on first or second can't relay the pitch selection to the hitters.
