  1. maybe he should have just said that.
  2. This is the era of Twitter journalism. It doesn't matter if you're right, only if you're first except woj is usually both.
  3. at the minor league level, it is simply just not possible to make a valid argument that the FO inherited a remotely viable farm system; i'd make the educated guess we've received less than 5 wins total out of that group to this point Shark was a 26 year old reliever with a replacement-level performance to that point in his career, but if you want to argue he was an elite asset, continue to do so, and prove further how unwilling you're going to be to think objectively Cashner's nearly 28 and has amassed a total of 3.5 fWAR; perhaps you'll tell me next what fantastic trade assets Larry Anderson and Heathcliff Slocumb were? You have shown no interest in thinking objectively at all. There's no point in talking with another apologist about their most pathetically apologistic nonsense. Boo hoo, they had nothing to work with, nothing at all. There was no talent and no assets and no hope. The 5-year rebuild was completely necessary and it's all the other guys' fault. you sound like glenn beck
  4. Melo: "Dance for me." http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/kenny.gif
  5. is he back or ready to get back?
  6. Brett's not that bad, he just aims for broad appeal and is a bit of an apologist. I pretty much don't read Parks anymore. i don't really see what brett belongs to the table. he doesn't provide "inside" information (does he?), and there are like 10 people on nsbb alone that i would rather read analysis from. he's just kind of the head of the cubs fan club. i think he does a very nice job of rounding up news concisely and his sight ends up being a good one stop shop if you need it. but agreed that he doesn't bring much to the table in terms of analysis or entertainment.
  7. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140621&content_id=80810708&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb It'd be nice if he is even only 50% exaggerating. So 10-12 fastballs at 62 mph? Those are just eephi.
  8. Me either, although I can't help but think how awesome it would be next year to see Baez, Bryant, and Alcantara all come up together in a symbolic transition to the next phase of the plan. Symbolism is t really worth much to me, unless it forces the trib and Muskat to stop writing core four. But it'd probably further encourage Brett to capitalize THE PLAN I'm glad everyone hates Brett now. Just feels right.
  9. I saw an article the other day that compared him to Pedro Alvarez. That may be about right.
  10. Oh shut the [expletive] up Brett. poor theo. what a tough life.
  11. Can you possibly justify why? If he can't stick at catcher where is he going to play? He's probably best suited for DH. They have a similar batting profile. Good eye, etc. Why are you always a dick to me? He just asked you to defend your position. Don't be so sensitive.
  12. I know its early but who are the guys I should be hoping for in the top 2 or 3 picks? Is Daz cameron still a thing? It doesn't really sound like there's a clear top guy at this point.
  13. So he raves about The Cubs picks after the first 3 rounds, hates the Schwarber pick, but doesn't acknowledge that the two are related?
  14. Just tattoo this on your [expletive] forehead.
  15. Ah, the old Vogelbach fallacy. You seem to be ignoring the first part of the sentence. Does it need an underline? has there ever been an instance where a clear DH prospect has been traded for something good? i'm not being sarcastic, i'm honestly asking. How is he now a "clear DH prospect"? wasn't referring to him specifically. just the general idea of the "vogelbach fallacy" as someone else put it.

  17. The what? The thing I bothered to update today for the first time in ages. Is the community no longer buzzing with talk about the upcoming season?
  18. #PTR I think these MLB Auctions items are all for charity. Well, crap. Don't worry, that's not true. The stuff like the pink bats are but there's no indication this is Barney has pink shoes up there with a note under duties and taxes saying all proceeds go to charity, no such note for this embarrassment The entire MLB Auctions website is for charity. Not every item individually states it, tho maybe it should.

  20. Here's the field of possible trade partners … 8. Braves: The Braves are also a Major League Baseball team.
  21. I should be more optimistic than I currently am. Positives: Samardzija, Castro, Rizzo, Hammel, Jackson lately, pythag. record. If you told me in March that they would be outscoring their opponent with substantial improvements from Castro and Rizzo, I would've be pleased. Yet, I'm not. Probably because if they go 60-59 the rest of the way (which will be tough considering the likelihood of dealing away their best pitcher(s)), they will finish 76-86. That's better than I'd have expected before the season. Which doesn't really mean much.
