  1. We haven't shut him down because we're a message board community that lacks the power to affect the Cubs' decisions. The Cubs probably haven't shut him down because 1.) they want him to continue getting experience and 2.) he's in the Rookie of the Year race, and they want to help him get it.
  2. I'm far from the world's biggest Hendry supporter, but that's not entirely fair. The Cubs will have made the playoffs in three of Hendry's seven years as GM, along with a near-miss in 2004. 2005 and 2006 sucked, but I think Dusty deserves more of the blame there for his destruction of the pitching staff. This year has been a big disappointment, but not all of it can be blamed on Hendry; a lot of players severely underperformed and that had a major effect. Clearly, we should expect more given the Cubs' market and payroll, but you can't say he has "nothing" to show for his efforts. The Cubs have been about as competitive during Hendry's tenure any non Yankees or Red Sox team during that time.
  3. You keep asking us why that is. Why do YOU think it is?
  4. You don't think there's an actual reason they suspended Bradley and not Zambrano? Or do you think they just did it on a whim? I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here. That Zambrano gets unjustified preferential treatment over Bradley?
  5. Actually, that's not true. Bradley's Grit Factor is much higher than DeRosa's. http://www.pseubermetrics.com/players_ongoing.php
  6. Seriously, why do you care? This isn't like the Jays not wanting to trade Halladay within the division.
  7. Had never seen Colvin play until last night. I think he has the ugliest non-pitcher swing in baseball.

  9. The question is: what would be the purpose of that? If indeed Bradley refused to play when asked to, such a grievance could backfire easily. What if he's claiming he didn't want to pinch-hit because he thought he was injured? I don't think Bradley will file a grievance, because there's probably been a lot of stuff we don't know about that the Cubs could bring up. He'd likely end up looking even worse.
  10. Doubtful. He'd either take a walk or pop up to the shortshop.
  11. This isn't really the point of all of this (though I don't know what the point of this thread is anymore), and it's nitpicking, but factoring in defense, Bradley was below-average this year.
  12. Bradley didn't have any trade value before the Cubs suspended him. Does it really matter that their return will now be a crappy middle relief prospect instead of a crappy outfield prospect? No one was going to give up anything worthwhile for Bradley after this year. The suspension doesn't change anything.
  13. I was pissed at the DeRosa trade at the time, but after seeing how the pitchers have panned out (and DeRo's performance this year), I have to give some credit to Hendry. The chain reaction it set off was less pleasant, but on a pure talent-for-talent swap, it worked out.
  14. So to everyone bashing Hendry for how he handled this, what would you have done? Let him play out the rest of the games despite his behavior? Just tell Lou to bench him without suspending him? Something else?
  15. the park certainly helped, but he was still really good. he's shown he can get hot and putu p big numbers. the problem is, most years he doesn't get that hot. also, iirc milton had a ridiculous babip last season I do think there is something to the whole "contract year" phenomenon. Not just with Milton, but with tons of other guys as well. There is not. Adrian Beltre says hi. Yet again, the exception proves the rule!
  16. That's another factor. We don't know everything that has happened, only what's been publicly reported. I think it's a damning sign that none of his teammates seem to care at all that he's been suspended. Combine that with everything in Milton's past, I don't see how people can continue to think Bradley isn't the primary culprit.
  17. But he's already past his peak ages. Given how brittle his physical makeup is, he could just continue to decline from here on out. That wouldn't be all that shocking.
  18. Bradley is going to be 32 at the start of next season. It's not at all a lock that he'll be any better in 2010 than he was this year.
  19. I'm black. I'm sick of Milton Bradley. Thanks for pointing out that this weird feeling I've had lately is one of self-loathing.
  20. I'd be more upset with the Cubs if it weren't for Bradley's history. I find it hard to pin much blame on the Cubs themselves. If you want to point a finger at the media, sure, that's reasonable. But the Cubs themselves gave Milton a very nice contract and a fresh start. He's the one who blew that. Not the organization. They've put up with plenty from him this season. Point is, Bradley has done things like this over and over again. He's the one to blame here.
  21. Were you trying to spell optimist or optometrist?
  22. Well, at least DeRosa finally helped St. Louis.
  23. Because there's a 1 percent chance they make the playoffs.
  24. That's actually pretty impressive. However, you used "a-hole" twice, which seems like cheating.
  25. Yes. I do. Please give me 26 unprofessional situations in the last six years. How can a player who only plays in 20 percent of his team's games lead them anywhere?
