  1. There's no reason they would move Alonso if they're going all in on Ohtani (which they will and should). They're moving Scherzer and maybe Verlander only because they're old and making tons of money in what has become a lost season for them. They actually saved money overall by paying $35M of Scherzer's money, because they end up saving even more in luxury tax dollars.
  2. Yeah, probably too much to consider sending both
  3. I'd do it for Wicks and Alcantara, maybe a low-level pitcher too? I don't want the Cubs FO to get too in love with guys just because they developed them.
  4. bad call on 2-1 means Tauchman chases 2-2 instead of getting something better on 3-1. Hate not having robo umps
  5. How soon does Happ pinch hit once they remove Matz? Gotta get something going here
  6. It worked that time, but Mancini has no business fielding that ball with Nico at 2B
  7. Mooney reports Edwin Rios was outrighted off the 40-man...
  8. ugh, Morel giving a free base early on a ball Happ may have caught
  9. I've gotten to the point where I have a list of guys who played for lots of teams
  10. Texas Rangers prospects Brock Porter (#4 on their top 10 per MLB.com) and Sebastian Walcott (#6) (#s 59 and 98 in the top 100, so a similar package to Ben Brown/Kevin Alcantara) both pulled from their games, per Greg Zumach (@NamedAfterMaddux) on Twitter.... could be a big-ish deal coming edit: https://twitter.com/martinonyc/status/1685398315851030528
  11. It's in the Ricketts' best interest for this to get out, so there's no reason to be anything except skeptical
  12. Mikolas gets 5 games according to Robert Murray on Twitter... MLB Network guys acting like it's ludicrous. Part of their argument was that he didn't hit him with a good fastball, and didn't get a warning before he hit him, but it's not like he wasn't trying to the pitch before
  13. Gotta get Mancini and his *checks notes* 74 OPS+ in there against the lefty, man. And Yan Gomes and his 102 OPS+ is the natural choice for DH
  14. Why all the cloak and dagger when everyone paying attention in Cubs Internetland has been speculating this exact scenario since Smyly's last appearance?
  15. If he is available for this package, we make that trade yesterday. Surely they demand we add PCA and we hope to negotiate down to like Triantos and Caissie added to that package
  16. He's a DH. Doesn't look like one, but that's where he fits since they can't afford to give him a run out at any position
  17. I think, given their system depth, that the Cubs can go after the best prospects possible, then maybe in the off-season use that depth to make moves for guys who are closer to impacting the ML roster
  18. Francisco Mejia is out 3-6 weeks for Tampa Bay. Maybe we can pawn off Barnhart as part of a Stroman deal
  19. Keith Law's list has a Cubs OF at 14. What is surprising about that is the fact that it is Kevin Alcantara at 14. PCA is 18, Horton 53, and Shaw 55. Law also named 19 people as honorable mention, including James Triantos. So by his reckoning, we've got 5 top-79 prospects.
