  1. and against the Pistons no less... not exactly cream of the crop there
  2. While Durant is an exceptional player, and an unbelievable scorer, I don't think that OKC as they presently stand (or even when they had Harden as the 3rd of their top 3 instead of Ibaka) can compare to SA's top 3. Ginobili and Harden (last year) are very similar, and without looking I do think Harden was likely more efficient scoring, but they were very similar players. Parker was a very good PG, but not on Westbrook's level athletically. I still don't think that advantage is that great though. Tim Duncan is one of the best big men to ever play the game. While Durant is great, Duncan is one of the best of all-time. Durant may yet get there, but Duncan already carried his teams to 4 titles.
  3. Unless one was traded and I am not realizing it... I believe that would have made 8
  4. Urlacher looked bad on that last run by MJD... He had nothin
  5. Why do coaches keep doing that? Do they seriously think it help them?
  6. Illinois cannot defend the pass to save their lives... No pressure on the QB, receivers open all over the place
  7. Going by his offer sheet, I would hope not. Looks like Groce is gonna go after the big boys or fail trying. I am OK with this course of action. Tyler Griffey's/Bill Cole's are pretty much the exact type of player I don't want to see at Illinois anymore. On that note... Xavier Rathan-Mayes is apparently visiting UI this weekend...
  8. already tired of listening to Brent Musberger
  9. And AVB wants to run an attacking 4-3-3 like Klinsmann, right?
  10. Spence, Brown, and Hawthorne? I've been hoping they won't lose Brown, but man is that kid talented
  11. From an ESPN.com chat this afternoon... Just from a random fan i know, but I found it odd to see Castro's name casually thrown out there like that. I don't even know that SF could put together a package worth dealing him Oh, they could, but they never would. I mean, I'd sell on a Bumgarner/Posey package, most likely. Which would totally defeat the purpose of the Giants trying to obtain him. I agree with that... I suppose I should have said a package that would truly make sesnse for both teams. I think for SF bringing up either of Posey or Bumgarner would be a non-starter

  13. Hope it wasn't Toews driving...
  14. Overrated how? The guy has been an amazing player. All you keep going on and on about is how he can't make last minute shots. If you're saying "overrated" in terms of how people would stack him up next to Jordan, fine...but if you're saying he's overrated in the sense that he's NOT a great player, well, that's just ridiculous. He's about the 16th best player ever according to per. I doubt most people have him that low. Thus why I feel he's overrated. And besides the Jordan comparisons, we have to hear people talk about him being the greatest Laker ever, when you could make the case for Kareem or Magic as one of, if not the, greatest player ever. (Also, Kobe wasn't even the best laker during his career. Shaq was clearly the best player in the league for those dynasty years.) Also, the post-Shaq but pre-gasol lakers struggled to even make the playoffs--in a league where making the playoffs isn't very difficult. Lebron had some bad supporting casts and still always ended up with one of the best records in the East. I do think Kobe is a great player, but I also think he gets over-rated in terms of basketball history. If you're going to compare LeBron and the Cavs to Kobe's Lakers post-Shaq and pre-Gasol it is correct to say that they both had poor supporting casts. But to criticize Kobe for not making the playoffs as frequently is simply ignoring the fact that the Western Conference had better teams in that span, and continues to have more competitive teams. 2004-05 Lakers (post-Shaq year 1): Lakers finish 34-48; Kobe plays 66 games Worst Western Conf. Playoff team is Memphis at 45-37, which would have placed them tied for 5th in the East (9th place MIN would have tied for 6th best record in East) 2nd best player: Lamar Odom 15.2/10.2/3.7 PTS/REB/AST - 64 games 3rd best player: Caron Butler 15.5/5.8/1.9 4th best player: Chucky Atkins 13.6/2.4/4.4 05-06 Lakers: Finish 45-37 (7th in W. Conf. - would have been 5 seed in East... IND/CHI 41-41 get 6/7 seeds, MIL 40-42 gets 8 seed) 2nd best player: Lamar Odom 14.8/9.2/5.5 3rd best player: Smush Parker 11.5/3.3/3.7 4th best player: Chris Mihm 10.3/6.2/1.0 - 59 games 06-07 Lakers: Finish 42-40 (7th W. Conf. - would have been 6th in EC... NJ/WSH 41-41 get 6/7 seeds, ORL 40-42 gets 8 seed) 2nd best player: Odom 15.9/9.8/4.8 - 56 games 3rd best player: Luke Walton 11.4/5.0/4.3 - 60 games 4th best player: Smush Parker 11.1/2.5/2.8 so yes, the Lakers were not great in those years, however, Kobe had a terrible supporting cast other than Lamar Odom (who is quite talented, but far from a star) and one year of Caron Butler (another talented but merely solid player) and they played in the more difficult Western Conference... Kobe is no Jordan, and in my opinion most people who truly know basketball wouldn't really say that they are on the same level. However, to use those years as your argument that he is overrated is a bit off-base
  15. That no-call on Boozer was absolutely ridiculous... And Hubie Brown acting like it was a clean block even after seeing the replay was an even bigger joke
  16. SPECIAL TEAMS Any time you can draft a homeless man's Aaron Hernandez, you gotta do it
  17. the text alert I got from ESPN listed him as a TE... and now Arizona makes the Massie pick that we should have made
  18. are you kidding me? a fullback?
  19. After that 2nd goal they just had nothing...
  20. I would check the Coyotes board, but they probably don't even have one. On their SB Nation Blog entitled....*snicker*...Five for Howling, they have a poll asking whether the suspension is appropriate. Here are the results: 58% - Too many games 29% - The injury question should be completely left out of the equation and until that happens its all a joke 9% - Yes, it was appropriate 1% - Too few games Wow, you know it's an embarassing decision when the fans of the team that benefits from it think it's over the top
  21. Stevens denying that he has been contacted does not mean he hasn't had someone contact UI... but still probably a pipe dream
  22. I like seeing the orange in Shaka's tie
  23. Did that Hathaway guy just say that Mizzou was their last #2?
