  1. Mitre, yes. How could I forget the very subject of hate and spite filled thread elsewhere in this forum? Maybe because he's dead to me!
  2. Who cares. It could be Toronto for all I care. The Cubs were eliminated on Sunday, so that 'clinch' game does not mean squat to the Cubs. It's just another game. I would not watch them celebrate though. No fun to watch another team do that....., ever. How much are they really going to celebrate? I mean, they've basically had the division won for months. Are they really going to go nuts because they won the division by 20 games?
  3. He does remind me of Quervo(sp)...Z's buddy that the Cubs traded. You mean Ruben Quevedo? But there are plenty of good and fat pitchers. Ray King. Bartolo Colon. CC Sabathia. David Wells (well, at least he used to be good). Even Zambrano wouldn't exactly be considered svelte.
  4. 2004 Williams Carpenter Morris Suppan Marquis Haren Reyes, Al Flores 2005 Carpenter Mulder Morris Marquis Suppan Reyes, Anthony Eldred Thanks, so, that's 15 starters the Cards have used over the last two years, this year alone, the Cubs have used at least 10 starters. Let's see: Wood Prior Zambrano Maddux Williams Rusch Dempster Hill Koronka Who am I missing?
  5. So you punish a guy for having better team mates than Lee? The fact is, Jones had more chances with RISP, and he cashed them in, giving him more RBI. While the MVP is an individual award in principal, it certainly takes others around you to get the numbers (runners on ahead of you to get RBI, people driving you in behind you to get runs, etc.) And as far as most valuable, the Braves are in a very tight race for the division, and without Jones, would not likely be in 1st place. While the Cubs may be worse than 4th place without Lee, I would argue that right now, Jones' contribution to the Braves is of greater value than Lee's to the Cubs
  6. I'm sure Quentin is great, but I'm of the opinion that money need not be spent on the starting rotation next year. All 5 starters from this year are under contract, so why not start the year with Zambrano, Prior, Wood, Maddux and Williams, and then make changes if it doesn't work out? I'd rather get two new outfielders, some better relief and a new 2B or SS with our cash then replace something that doesn't need replacing.
  7. Replace Chip with Josh Lewin and you have the best broadcast team in the history of the universe
  8. Or.....keep him as your 5th starter and spend the cash elsewhere? Williams is an actual 5th starter, and he has been pretty good. I'd rather see cash spent on middle infield or corner outfield before moving Williams. Why trade him if he's doing well?
  9. Sure. If I get in my car now and go 100mph, I'll be there by game time.
  10. As I found out when starting a different thread, around 50% of registered members on this site have never posted a message. A "shout out" may bring in some interest, but not many people stick around. I understand how one might have concern about this site becoming like cubs.com, but since we have moderators here who actually do their jobs, I don't fear that we will be overrun by 12 year olds and trolls.
  11. Why, oh why is there a 3rd night game in a row? I'd like to watch one of these through to the end. I hope all 4 Cards games are day games.
  12. i'm no big fan of dusty's, but he actually complimented Murton. Interesting. I didn't read the whole quote, but I wonder if he feels this way then why isn't he playing every day? If I had a player who was playing "outstanding", I would not play him every couple of days. Barring moving Hairston to LF or putting Macias or Grieve out there, Murton would look to be the #1 guy on the depth chart in LF at this point
  13. Alright, good night guys. I simply can't wait this one out. See y'all tomorrow night.
  14. And they're taking us straight to sports hell. Haven't we been there since early August? More like October 2003. We were merely in purgatory last year until, oh early to mid September.
  15. And they're taking us straight to sports hell. Haven't we been there since early August?
  16. Dempster in a tie? What, not time to run Mitre out there again "to get his confidence back"?
  17. Why am I still up? Why do I care? Stupid Cubs own my soul!
  18. Non-displaced fracture of the hand. Likely out for the year. Plans to play winter ball.
  19. Walker would have been out on that play, as he would have slammed his bat, spun 360 degrees, and pouted before jogging to first. At least Neifi hustled.
  20. I have no idea how anyone would decide to go into oncology in the first place if they didn't have a real tough demeanor in the first place. A little unrealistic, if you ask me. And yeah, the husband thing was so obvious that I'd forgotten they hadn't said it before. They just kept intimating that she had a terrible loss in her life. I thought she had lost a baby or something.
  21. This is my last haf-inning I'll sleep when it's football season, dammit. um, uh, it's football season. Go to bed.
  22. It's the "Spanish Inquisition" philosophy of management. "NO ONE expects the Barret Bunt!"
  23. This is my last haf-inning I'm up in 3 hrs., 15 min regardless.
  24. it was a good episode. Those were some serious false teeth they gave LL Cool J. Next week's episode looks even better. I agree. Anything that involves killing a child is great in my book. ok, I was kidding. Although, he has to stop being bitchy to Cameron. It's starting to annoy me. He needs to go back to treating the Aussie like that instead. His treatment of Cameron is tough love. She needs to grow a spine to survive in her field (Oncology). They finally said what happened to her husband (they hinted all last season, never came out and said it)
  25. Damn, I want to see the end of this one, but I should ahve been in bed 40 minutes ago
