  1. To avoid a poll where everyone votes for Dusty Baker as being the worst thing about 2005, I've disqualified him in lieu of other options.
  2. Somehow Dusty actually managed a 1 and 2 in the lineup with a worse combined OBP thant Macias/ Perez. That's un-frigging-believable.
  3. if they both keep winning, it'll be a tough thing to do.
  4. i totally forgot that monday game. you're right
  5. Anyone care to post how they would vote in this week's poll (before the real one comes out?) Here is my take: 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Virginia Tech 4. LSU 5. Florida State 6. Georgia 7. Ohio State 8. Miami 9. Tennessee 10. Alabama 11. Notre Dame 12. California 13. Florida 14. Texas Tech 15. Wisconsin 16. UCLA 17. Boston College 18. Arizona State 19. Michigan State 20. Auburn 21. Penn State 22. Louisville 23. Virginia 24. Georgia Tech 25. Michigan
  6. Cardinal loyalty is an odd thing. Take the death of Darryl Kile for example. While the premature death of any athlete is sad, the fandom of Cardinal Nation acted like the president of the US had died. Candlelight vigils, video retrospectives, etc. All for a guy who was by no means a Cardinal legend. In fact he was only in his 2nd or 3rd season in St Louis. I think Kile's passing was met with more public displays of weeping and genuflecting than Jack Buck's, a man who truly is a legend. I expect no different behavior, however, from Cub fans in the future when it comes to Sosa.
  7. When did we trade Clement again?
  8. gAy-Rod. Ha! Because, you know, gay people are bad athletes and somehow inferior to the uber-masculine world of professional sports. You sure zinged him there erik!
  9. Can Maddux take his last loss and turn it into a "double or nothing" bid to get 2 wins today? BTW, I could do without the "drama" of a "will Maddux be .500" scenario. That's not drama, that's tragedy.
  10. How about making him manage winter ball? or see a sports psychologist?
  11. Or his skin color What? Apologies for the vague response. I was only insinuating that Dusty would likely get hired simply because he would be a "minority hire". No racist intentions whatsoever. Hmmm..... I'll take your word for it, though I think teams would look at his .530 winning percentage over his skin color. Gosh, with first time hires of people of color like Randolph and Guillen, I'd think fans would get over this "minority hire" garbage. If that were really the case, then why hasn't anyone hired Cito Gaston, a two-time World Series winner? Or Baylor? Who, I think, has shown through his teams' records, that he's just not a good manager. Maybe I'm too cynical about it. I know it's a big deal in the NFL, what with their "mandatory interview of a minority" policy and all. I'm guessing Dusty is actually very well liked in the baseball world, and he wouldn't have much of a problem getting a job anywhere. maybe, but I think Lovie was an excellant hire by da Bearz, and honestly he may not have been given the oppertuity w/o that requirement.... Agreed, but it's silly how teams can get into trouble for not making that mandatory interview. Didn't the Lions catch some heat for hiring Mariucci without giving their token minority interview? BTW, I never meant to insinuate that I didn't like Dusty because he was black. I hope that's not what anyone construed from my comment.

  13. <------ DerwoodPimps So, this is a head to head type league? That's fun. Got to keep those lineups updated all the time too.
  14. ABC cut to Jeopardy here in State College
  15. It's about time we saw a win like that from Penn State. The game next weekend will be very interesting. it's going to be a madhouse next weekend. ESPN night game vs Ohio State

  17. Wow, PSU just beat the crud out of Minnesota. Top 25 for sure this week!
  18. Mark McGwire must be talking to Bonds... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2177468
  19. Or his skin color
  20. Still, overall, a winning record against the Central. Now if you want a headache, go look at the record vs. the East
  21. I want to be Wannstedt. To be an abject failure as a head coach everywhere you go, but continue to be employed. Amazing. Looks like it'll go to the 4th with Wanny's team down three scores. It's what, week 5? And to think Pitt still won't have a win against a division 1-A team. But he's a Pitt legacy, so the alumni won't be pissed or anything
  22. broken images...
