  1. fine, i'll take the Bills. note to Bears GM: I'll draft whoever you want and trade them to you for some Lou Malnotti's pizza
  2. I said "none" but didn't consider the rain shortened CG
  3. I read that Pat Riley wants to change the draft lottery so that ALL the teams in the league get a shot at the #1 pick. This, of course, is completely nonsensical and belies the entire point of the lottery Are you sure it was Riley? I had heard Jeff Van Gundy had said that if the NBA really wants teams to not "tank" at the end of the season, that they should let everybody in the lottery. I hadnt heard about Riley though. Either or, its a pretty stupid idea. Here you go NBA Champs, heres the number 1 pick in the draft...noway. yeah, you're right. I think my brain crossed wires with current/former Miami Heat coaches
  4. The NFL started awarding compensatory picks in 1993. seriously? are they all at the end of the draft? they must not talk about it much at all
  5. Just thought I'd sum up the first 64 pages of this thread: Bears have done almost nothing since the Super Bowl. Okay, carry on
  6. In my local paper today, the sports section had a list of compensatory draft picks for this year's NFL draft. Did I miss something? Since when does the NFL have MLB-esque compensatory picks for lost free agents?
  7. I read that Pat Riley wants to change the draft lottery so that ALL the teams in the league get a shot at the #1 pick. This, of course, is completely nonsensical and belies the entire point of the lottery
  8. while we're talking about big white guys who will probably fail in the NBA, does anyone actually think Hansborough will be anything at all at the next level? I don't
  9. Q: Who has two thumbs and all four Final 4 teams in his bracket? A: This guy
  10. without looking I'm guessing I'm #1 in NC's league, as I have all 4 Final Four teams
  11. I don't know. I personally don't think he'll be successful, but he does handle the ball extremely well for a big man (I've seen him cross a few guys over this year believe it or not), and if he ever develops that 15 foot jumper, he has a shot at being a solid role player. I think he will develop that jumper. Never really could in Duke's system when he was on the floor with 4 jump shooters. I'm not a huge McRoberts fan, but I think he can be a Troy Murphy type player in the NBA. Not a star, but I think he could be a 12-14 PPG scorer who gets 8 rebounds as a role player. which would make him redundant on the Bulls, as we already have Noc filling that role
  12. i'm torn on this game. I have Florida in my Final Four, but really hate Noah.
  13. a couple of things jump out: 1 - If Floyd gives us 70ish RBI, great, but I sorta hope he doesn't get the PT to accumulate that total 2 - I'll take 50 RBI from DeRosa thank you 3 - While not great, Marquis' projections are better (ERA-wise) than his numbers last year 4 - Can A-Ram be any more consistent?
  14. the safest thing to do on highways is to fall into the traffic pattern. Sometimes that's close to the speed limit, sometimes that's 85 mph. When city driving, I usually stick close to the speed limit, as you never know when a delivery truck will be backing out of an alley. In PA, state troopers are the only police allowed to run radar, so in State College, the local police are limited to timing devices to run speed traps. These devices incorporate two big white lines on the road, so if you see those, it's pretty obvious to slow down
  15. unfortunately for the Pirates, Jack Wilson has become a fan favorite (for no good reason) and, as such, not starting him would probably alienate the 4 fans they still have. Too bad, since he's a total suckfest
  16. With tonight's wins I'm now #1 in the NSBB Yahoo Pick Em' Pool. If Florida and G-Town win tomorrow, I'll have the Final Four picked 100%
  17. George Mason made the Final Four last year with like the 150th most talented team in the country. Not a good measuring stick
  18. Prepare to be surprised. Not saying I agree with it, I vehemently don't, but everyone places him that high. hope there are some good foreign players this year, because after the top 8 or so, this draft looks mighty thin
  19. I'll feel much better if Florida loses tomorrow, but with my luck they'll probably go all the way. At times like this, I hate sports. Why couldn't I have grown up loving Duke, the Yankees and the Patriots? My life would be so much easier. I apologize to everyone on the board for these horrible words, I'm just in a very depressed mood right now. Exactly how I felt about 4 hours ago... You'll get over it eventually. I'm already partly over it. But usually, the morning after is the worst. Hopefully I don't break my hand from punching a wall. The morning after is terrible, especially for me. I have a 45 minute drive to work and I always listen to the local sportstalk station. In the morning, all they'll be talking about is the game tonight. Thus I have to either relive every moment of this game or not listen to sportstalk (probably what I'll do). Then, when I get to work, being the sportswriter, I'm expected to discuss the game with whoever wants to and, while that's normally an enjoyable part of the job, it'll suck in the morning. The good thing is, my boss (an OSU fan) is on vacation so I won't see him again until Monday. this is why many sports writers say they either won't wrote about their favorite teams, or simply cease to have favorite teams. It interferes with their careers
  20. wow, shame on Tennessee for losing that one.
  21. We did that last year too (San Diego, Oakland). It helps that it's a really big state. true. LA to Sacramento is, what, an 8 hour drive? Still, you know there are Bruin Alum all over the state, so these are clearly home games for UCLA it always seems like the #2 seeds actually play in their home region more than the #1's done
  22. i have to say, I don't look at the NBA standings too closely outside if the Central, but where did the Heat come from? Wow, that team was left for dead and now they're like 7 over .500!
  23. how does UCLA get to play it's first 4 games in California? How is that fair? Oh wait, I have them going to the finals in my bracket. Nevermind
  24. ESPN blows. I don't know how we can still be considered a mid-major after 6 straight tournament appearances, 2 Sweet 16 appearances, close to a 3rd Sweet 16 apperance a few years ago, and close to an Elite 8 apperance tonight. We've landed the two best recruiting class that we've ever seen for the next two years and if we can keep Lowery, I have all the faith in the world that Sweet 16 apperances should be the norm. I know I'm biased, but we've passed Gonzaga as the best non-BCS school. Memphis? ETA: Your point still stands, SIU can't be considered a scrappy mid-major, especially if Lowery stays. scrappy? no. mid-major? yes. "mid-major" has nothing to do with how well you play and everything to do with what conference you play in. As long as SIU plays in, what, the MVC? (seriously, I don't remember), they'll be a mid-major. Conversely, PSU and NWU will always be "power conference" teams no matter how much they suck
  25. OK. One more dribble and five more feet. How much does it increase the % of the shot? Anyway, game over, moving on. I rooting for UCLA. it makes it a 3 point shot
