  1. ratings are dumb. discuss.
  2. if by "being Z" you mean pitching a shutout last night....
  3. Don't be so sure. I'm sure Michigan will be scheduling them before too long. If this is a slam on Michigans Schedule, I think its off base. Michigan certainly could schedule tougher, but they are not nearly as shameful as others(including most of the SEC). They have Notre Dame on their Schedule and have tried hard to have other quality BCS teams on their schedule. That is 2 quality non-conference games most years. A lot of schools dont have 1. They also havent shied away from playing other BCS schools on the road. Again I am not comparing them to USC, but I could easily name 30 schools that dont schedule as good. I think Michigan played Oregon on the road once before. That's the only out of conference game other than ND I can even remember them playing on the road - let alone home games against decent teams. Yes, I'm glad they renewed the ND series, though. isn't this the last year?
  4. I truly enjoyed the 70's. Cardinals were 13 games under .500 for the decade, with no playoff appearances. i liked the 70's because of The Electric Company and preschool Don't forget Land of the Lost. That show freaked me out. because Bill Laimbeer was in it?
  5. again, the people were booing him long before he got to the "root, root" part
  6. all this talk almost makes me want to go back and read the thread. almost.
  7. exactly. looks like the cowboys and astros logos' bastard love child

  9. How many posts is he up to? 184756483092? i think he's either banned or somewhere en route from Finland because he has been particularly conspicuous by his absence
  10. I'm going to guess (without knowing much about you or the other people in question) that the people who are upset by this subject themselves to a lot more of the national sports media than you do. i really think some people here are complete media masochists. "i hate Mariotti!" "SI sucks!" "FOXSports.com is full of crap!" STOP READING IT THEN
  11. You're right. People booed because they all hate Bob Uecker and think he's the devil. It had nothing to do with the fans wanting to uphold a tradition and think it's wrong for a competing team's broadcaster to sing the stretch. it's only a "tradition" because the Cubs marketing department fooled most cubs fans into thinking it is. it's usually just a stop on "celebrity X's" press junket or politician's campaign trail. it doesn't honor Harry at all anymore (if it every did post-1998) It's tradition to say "root root root for the Cubbies," which he didn't say. a) they were booing him before he sang a note b) they were booing too loud to hear him say "and you root for the Cubs" part

  13. personally, i don't care AT ALL what the media thinks about my teams. in fact, it's amusing to me just how bent out of shape some you get about it (esp. the supposed Joe Buck hate of the the Cubs)
  14. cubs fans care enough about the 7th inning stretch to boo someone? get a grip
  15. It's not exactly a rare chance for FIU. Here are their major conference teams they play this year: At Penn State Maryland At Miami At Kansas At Arkansas They also played at Miami, at Alabama, and at Maryland last year. It's actually quite sad. FIU is trying to build their football program, but their AD appears more willing to want the money from these big schools instead of trying to find competitive games for his team. Every small school is going to have a game or two against a big school that they don't have a chance in, but FIU takes it way too far. hey, who cares if the kids go 0-11 every year so long as the athletic dept. is getting $250,000 per school to go play there?
  16. the easy solution, of course, is to stop the guest conductor nonsense, but I think i've beaten that horse to death
  17. yeah, i was a little disappointed in the booing. i generally don't boo at most sporting events (unless the other team is a big rival or something). i mean, how classy is it for, say, 100,000+ people at a Penn State game to boo the visiting school's MARCHING BAND? lame
  18. i'm setting the over/under on the total # of pitches Soriano sees tonight at 8.5
  19. i feel sorry for the poor FIU kids this Saturday. they're pretty much guaranteed to get wiped all over the field. on the other hand, it's probably one of their only opportunities to walk onto a field surrounded by 110,000 screaming fans
  20. he saw, what, 6 pitches in 4 at-bats tonight?
  21. closer than Monroe, LA That is true...but the rules stipulated that we'd be responsible for our own travel. way to crap on a perfectly good conspiracy theory
  22. how sick are brewer fans right now? back in June you were thinking about winning the division by double digits and getting homefield, and now you're under .500 and in third place.
  23. the Brewers are in 3rd place, who cares? :D
