  1. I wonder how they are going to get around the collective bargining agreement? I'm pretty sure they are not supposed to play for more than 21 days in a row without a break. Anyway, this is good news for the Brewers. maybe there are caveats for makeup games. either way, this further points towards how broken the scheduling is. not to sound too "olde thyme", but having some scheduled Sunday doubleheaders would create more off days and make this situation less of a struggle
  2. as a resident of the Eastern Time Zone, I have to say that west coast night games suck butt
  3. Week 1 is going to be blowout city for Penn State (FIU will be destroyed), so that's anti-climactic. Weekend of the 8th will be awesome: PSU vs. ND on saturday and Bears vs. Chargers on Sunday (assuming it will be aired here, which is no guarantee)
  4. Plenty of great players were taken in later rounds. You can't really make a case for Pujols. At all. Or Morris for that matter. Mike Piazza - Round 61
  5. Hendry has certainly accomplished his goal of "competing within the division"
  6. i said it in the game thread: Brewers will win 10-0.
  7. the decision was mentioned by Len during the broadcast today
  8. If you throw good pitches to Ramirez, those pitches end up 450 feet away. no, if you throw bad pitches to Ramirez they end up 450 feet away. it's possible to throw good pitches for strikes
  9. 1. they moved Zambrano up to Thursday with Marshall pitching Friday 2. There is Monday plus one day in September where both teams have a scheduled off day
  10. ownership doesn't/shouldn't affect how the core group performs Then if this the core group, no. Too streaky. I feel that further acquisitions are needed to make this a truly impressive team with some longevity. well, barring trades, the following players are here for at least the next 2 seasons ('08 and '09) Lee Ramirez Soriano Ramirez Murton Pie Theriot Fontenot Zambrano Marquis Lilly Hill Marshall Marmol if you can add another bat (RF or C) you're in decent shape.
  11. ownership doesn't/shouldn't affect how the core group performs
  12. milwaukee will win 10-0 tonight. book it
  13. the rained out game never happened (according to the stats), so they can start whoever they want
  14. an established RF would go a long way
  15. yeah, like ANY hall of fame voter knows WTF OPS+ is
  16. he consistently gets no run support
  17. To be fair, Gaetti had a good season with the Cubs, and was pretty good during his Twins days. yeah, i posted that thinking the original thread was just ex-cubs. he probably doesn't belong and really, gaetti had a good 1/2 season. 1999 was horrible
  18. so, yeah, what's going on? mlb.tv's got nothign
  19. that just proved why Santo shouldn't do it every day. yeesh
  20. I dont think that Matt Morris is very fair to add to that list. He sucks not cause he is old and has no arm left. But his first 6 years he had ERA+ of 130, 166, 130,137,114, and 111. So he was a pretty good pitcher his first 6 years in the league. yeah, all with the Cardinals. since he's left the cardinals, he's sucked
  21. for some reason, i thought you meant just former Cubs who were good with the Cardinals since that's not the case, I'll add: Chris Carpenter Matt Morris
  22. gary gaetti julian tavarez john mabry
  23. Eckstein couldn't grit himself into the air enough to catch that one
