  1. This is true. In 2004, when the Diamondback were absolutely awful, they still owned the Cubs. And I believe in 2003 we had trouble beating them.. which is relevant, as the rosters are exactly the same now as they were then
  2. the same proof that Neifi, Macias or Koyie Hill aren't You might want to re-think that one. :D he was on amphetamines, not roids, right?
  3. the same proof that Neifi, Macias or Koyie Hill aren't
  4. i had no doubt that Lilly could win 10 games this year, just didn't know it would be this early in the season.
  5. longer than he hit .210 in Chicago Random sample fluctations don't alone explain this difference. Obviously, they have something to do with it. But Pie now has a demonstrated trend of struggling at new level before mastering it. and i'd have more patience for letting him struggle through his major league at-bats if we weren't in a division race with an automatic out at catcher and pitcher already

  7. i am super happy that most people passed up on him as their HR derby wildcard. I may have bought myself some more HR's and could catch up a bit
  8. he only gave up 2 or 3 earned in 5 innings, what's wrong with that?
  9. there's no better way to get rid of this thread than by continually bumping it to complain about it
  10. someone find Randall Simon, STAT!
  11. at least there are separate threads on this here and in Rivalries. the story is JUST THAT BIG
  12. One of Arizona D-Backs was on ESPNRadio several weeks ago (Eric Byrnes??? Don't remember). He was pretty outspoken about the steroids ordeal. His point was a good one: What is the goal of the Mitchell inquiry, the congress hearings, etc.? In other words, if Bud outed ever player who has ever done steroids, what does that achieve? Where does it end?
  13. Webb has a higher WHIP than I expected this year.
  14. bengie molina has more RBI than bonds. that's fantastic
  15. is there a deadline for naming the PTBNL? I know the Pirates stress winning at every level of the minors, so they may be balking on sending someone who, to them, is key in a certain farm team's success. Not a problem if the player is from A ball, however, as both A teams suck this year
  16. if this were the Cubs, they'd try pitching Carpenter in September and then not put him under the knife until next spring
  17. he probably started doing roids to help with injuries. and yes, i think there are SO many pro atheletes on roids that it's almost a moot issue. there was an article in my paper today talking about FRIGGING GOLFERS being on roids
  18. I've never understood this sentiment. How do we know when he started taking steroids? Was it in 94? 98? Also, where do the non-steroids stats stop and the steroid influenced stats begin? Seems like if that were known, there would be an outcry to cut out his steroid influenced stats and go with only the non-steroid stats. I just don't understand how we can tell when he started using. we can't, which is why we should stop over-analyzing it to death
  19. he might as well not even suit up for the Brewers series. No way they want him to break the record on the road
  20. let's hope this PTBNL is named soon....I hate waiting
  21. local sports radio here has some pissed off callers (and host). of course, they're also pissed at what a ludicrous contract the team gave Wilson, which is making him impossible to trade ("what contender would want to acquire a $7million number eight hitter?")
