  1. Refresh my memory on that. inexplicably traded away Brandon McCarthy to TEX this past year edited for grammar
  2. at least KW traded away a promising young lefty pitcher for no good reason
  3. lilly is the one pitcher i've seen live this year, and I couldn't believe how quickly he worked. total "catch and throw" pitcher, which is great. he also completely owned the pirates lineup
  4. this time of year, i keep ESPNRadio on in the car just to catch breaking news. With that, one has to put up with Cowherd and Rome.
  5. Good. I hope it happens. This freaking Murton is a god, crap, again. Uggh, Hendry. Noone said he's God we just want him to play instead of that nagging injury dude. I'm just sick of everyone bowing down in front of the "Golden Calf" Matt Murton. Look, he's not the next Barry Bonds like all you guys think. Enough with the BS comparisons to great players. Nobody is calling him this. People look like idiots constantly criticizing people for doing something they aren't doing. I guess it hasn't occurred to you that IMB! said that with the express purpose of getting you to respond exactly like you did.
  6. "Dear Rome, Steroids isn't so bad. Sincerely, Ken Caminiti's Rancid Corpse Bill in Albany" Wow Epic Out
  7. you weren't repetitive enough, try this: "Mark DeRosa" "Injured his hammy" "Hamstring, totally hurt, by DeRosa" "I mean, ouch, right?" "DeRo" "Out"
  8. didn't you hear, ESPN's new target demographic are 13-25 year old women who read US Weekly
  9. CAN WE GET A GAME THREAD PLEASE?
  10. you can't win with that argument on this board. i've tried to explain that our favorite beleagured radio color man wasn't even one of the top 3 players on his own team, but have been shouted down ad nauseum
  11. i think we can ALL agree that there was zero reason to sign cliff floyd. none.
  12. don't get it twisted. lol. i am very excited for this series, but moreso because we are in the midst of a playoff chase than playing the cardinals alone. i will be more excited when they play milwaukee in august, probably. it's because we have more at stake than just proving a point vs saint louis. QFT
  13. Not to derail the thread, but Grudz produced very well during his time with the Cubs. Hindsight being 20/20 there is no way that any sane person would argue Hill would have been a better option. And to say that Dubois was a better option than Hollandsworth is like saying that Neifi was a better option than Macias. They both sucked. you must not have been around here back then. DuBois was the 2nd coming of Babe Ruth to some people here....
  14. i highly, Highly, HIGHLY doubt that 99% of the players out there are privy to the machinations of their GM's, much less days before a trade. people really think Krivsky called Dunn into his office and said, "hey buddy, we're probably gonna trade you. Check out this offer I got from the Cubs! Wicked, right? But just lay low, stay in the lineup, don't telal anyone...."
  15. i prefer this guy :puker: no love for :puke: ?
  16. wow is that team going to be bad
  17. don't think we can compete with either Salty (ATL) or Santana/Kotchman (LAA)
  18. as usual, these will the be the longest 8 days of the year
  19. i just don't see how a lineup of Soriano Cedeno Lee Ramirez DeRosa Murton Kendall Pie is much better than Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Jones Kendall Neither look like playoff teams to me
  20. the overall team offense may have been slightly down after lofton's arrival, but how much worse would it have been had he NOT been acquired?
  21. I am hardly a Cedeno believer, but young players first breaking into the majors typically improve as time progresses. and i feel the same way about cedeno as i do about pie: they may be good big leaguers long term, but a playoff chase isn't the time to break in the rookies. i know that creates the question of "when is the right time" and right now, i don't know. Good teams break in rookies during playoff chases all the time. not when they have automatic outs from C, RF and P already it's a bit easier for the Yankees to break in a Melky Cabrera when the rest of the lineup has jeter, a-rod, matsui, giambi, sheffield and posada in it
  22. i cant' get excited. it's more fun to play st. louis when the act of defeating them will most greatly upset cardinal nation. this year, it's just kicking them while they're down (not that there is anything wrong with that)
  23. Let's just say that I was offered the job as long as I promised to take care of a couple problems. Now, go start your car. Recent photo of TT: http://www.playboy.com/blog/upload/import/wolf.jpg
  24. the Cardinals are so bad this year, it's hardly any fun to play them
  25. well, sample size, right? I would be all for calling him up and letting him play if there weren't 2 or 3 other holes in the lineup
