  1. In what sport? college football
  2. Incredible. Pessimistic in the TOP OF THE FIRST when we score FIRST. Wow! i do my best work early in the game
  3. Don't worry. It'd open up a spot for Nick Saban to come back. He'll be pretty close to time to switch jobs after this season anyway. I'm sure he'll take some of the credit if they win the NC this year. Of course. His ego would force him to. he'll take credit if the Dolphins make the playoffs too
  4. then why have conferences at all?
  5. ah, i love the "score early then watch the lead evaporate" game plan. this won't end well
  6.   yes please You might get what you need and want but what about the poor Tiger fans who seemed to be getting popped on for some reason? That seems like a sweet job and it just makes me wonder why people leave there so soon. (If these rumors are true) Bad luck is all. Saban is a douche and Michigan is the best job in the country outside of SC. Hmm, maybe so. Best jobs in college football, yeah Michigan is in the top 5 no doubt about that. I'd put Texas, OSU, ND and Florida in there too. I'm curious where you'd rank the PSU job. It hasnt' been available in 40+ years, so it's tough to gauge. Will top coaches be clamoring for it when JoePa finally retires? I sure as heck wouldn't want that job after he leaves. The mans an icon. It is a sweet job though with their wonderful support and being in a good conference it would be an attractive team for any coach in the nation. I'd put it in the top 10. USC ND Michigan Texas OSU Florida (That area is so loaded with talent) Next tier: LSU Penn State Oklahoma Tennessee Alabama/Florida St I think tradition of winning, support, area of where they play are the most important aspects of these jobs. i've often said that PSU's best tactic to deal with JoePa's leaving would be to have a coach picked ahead of time and just announce the new hire at the same press conference as the JoePa retirement. Let JoePa help pick his successor, whether that be internally or externally. I also think the new coach should have some ties to PSU (or at least to the area). my darkhorse would be Bill Cowher, but that's just a pipe dream

  8. Colin Cowherd (of all people) made a good point about Carr's overall record. Some are defending him because his overall record is good, but he's lost 4 straight bowls, is under .500 against top 20 teams, etc. Longevity and beating up weak non-con and bottom feeder Big 10 teams will make your record look awfully good
  9. Kind of hard to have order when the people who are in line to start don't start. is Laura MIA? she usually PM's people to remind them it's their turn
  10. every time a cardinal hitter goes down, Ankiel absorbs their hitting prowess to become stronger (a la Highlander). there can be only one
  11. I don't need to see an 8-4 2005 Florida State team getting into any sort of a playoff system. I also don't need to see a two or three loss team winning the national championship. guess you would be in favor of just taking the top 4 teams in each League for the playoffs in baseball, right? no way you'd want to see an 83 win team from the NL Central go to the postseason
  12. this will only make Ankiel stronger
  13. the trachsel experiment was fun and all, but it's done. kthxbye
  14. shouldn't the perfect bonus pick be Ryan Braun (30) ?
  15. I: a) lived with my wife before marrying (but engaged) b) married young (22) c) am still married
  16. with the thread review fixed, can we lock this up here and direct people back to WCF?
  17. you mean the game where PSU's 2nd and 3rd string defense gave up some late scores? yeah, don't make it sound like Indiana was hanging with the Lions all game
  18. LT is better than Benson/Peterson. that was the difference At holding on to the ball...that's really the difference. it was enough
  19. LT is better than Benson/Peterson. that was the difference
  20. well that wasn't terribly surprising
  21. I don't know how the Bears work with their TEs, but whenever we had a TE out there in high school, if he saw a guy lined up in front of him or saw a guy blitzing it was his responsibility at the very LEAST to get a chip block on the defender before he goes out on route, or stay in to block completely. It's also the job of the outside tackle there to call out a shift to get the outside guy, with the guard getting the tackles responsibility and the center taking the guards. The QB also needs to be able to notice that and audible out, as someone already mentioned. Hopefully it's just a combo of SD having a great DL and it being the first game of the year. i just remember a few plays where the RG clearly had to make a decision who to block and chose the inside guy
