  1. I wasn't commenting on the fist pump though. I'm only talking about the point to the sky right before he goes into the dugout. i think he knows it gets him on TV. i have no problem with him thanking God, but let's not pretend that genuflecting in front of TV cameras and 40,000 people isn't for show
  2. There's definitely evidence to fuel the speculation in both cases, though. Especially in terms of Cuban being a serious bidder. evidence towards speculation =/= anything substantial though. i'll be worried about owner collusion if/when we actually have some bidders
  3. way to steal Rotoworld's joke ;)
  4. i think what Z does is a lot more demonstrative than a subtle crossing of one's self. he gets a big inning-ending K, pumps his fist, screams, then points at the sky. FWIW, I hate it when Pujols and Bonds do it too. God doesn't give a crap if you hit a home run. Seriously
  5. sorry about injecting some truth into this discussion, but just about everything talked about in this thread (from Cuban being a serious bidder to Selig shutting him out) is 100% speculation at this point. let's not get worked up over stuff we're mostly making up
  6. if he was that sick he probably shouldn't have been sitting with his buddies in the pen, eh?
  7. I can think of a better time for a 10 game winning streak. 1-1 tie in NLDS was the first to come to mind. after losing game 2, yes
  8. Zambrano's reaction would have been to walk him, give up a single, hit the next batter, then give up another hit that scores at least 2 runs before being yanked. then he'd point at the sky and thank god for being so crappy I hate when people say that; it's ignorant. He does that every single time he leaves the field; good or bad. I'm positive it's a religious thing and pretty disrespectful when people make comments like that, in my opinion. you're entitled to your opinion, but I think it shows up the other team as much as a fist pump or anything. it's pretty clear God is not a Cubs fan
  9. Seeing that, it really makes it that much more sickening that they didn't even make it to 90 wins. Wow. nothing like going 3-7 in your final 10 to screw the pooch
  10. not this again
  11. i haven't truly followed hockey since the Mario/Jaromir Penguins teams of the early 90's. it's nice to see that they finally have something exciting happening in Pittsburgh again
  12. wow, was it fat and ugly day at Wrigley last night?
  13. Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27 Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31 Player A, please. Your stats don't reflect defense or the grit factor. black guys don't have grit nor do they carry lunch pails to work or blue collar kind of guys. nor are they scrappy, hard-nosed, gamers, spark-plugs, or guys who just play the game right

  16. how dumb is it to mail illegal substances to begin with?
  17. is "park factor" based on weather/elevation/etc. or is it simply based on years of statistics (vs. other ballparks)?
  18. Sorry, I couldn't read your post as my head was turned the other way. Why wouldn't athletes have these things shipped to a friend that they could trust instead of getting them sent directly to their homes with their name on it? I mean that's Pete Rose dumb. no fear of getting caught
  19. i'll be in Florida from Saturday through Wednesday....vacation will be nice, but being away from this race will kill me
  20. they both K too much, thus they both suck. right? anyone?
  21. i can't wait until Miami Stadium is suddenly full of Cubs fans (as opposed to the 27 Marlins fans who usually attend)
  22. it's nice to see another team get "Dusty'd" for once
  23. Selig seems to be spreading his "start a rookie" payola around this week
