  1. Point #1 didn't frustrate me because Glavine has been getting those calls his entire career. If hitters don't know that by now.....
  2. Isn't it "LF'er in RF, RF'er in CF" etc etc? Floyd's a LF and Jones is a RF. Or am I missing something? I think Soriano is more of a RF talent than LF, I think of Jones as a LF for some reason. Either way, he's not a CF I got it. I agree on Soriano. I also agree that JJ isn't a CF, though I don't know which corner I'd put him in. Probably neither. the corner of the dugout farthest from the field
  3. http://faninterference.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/kerry_wood_studio_cubs.jpg vs. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_134268.jpg i'm telling you, it's like seeing a friend who just came out of rehab or something

  5. we are managed by a man who regularly has a RF'er in LF, a LF'er in CF, a 2B in RF and a 2B at SS
  6. why would you all wish for Pie to be called up and keep Murton company on the bench?

  8. 2 for 4 with a walk his last start, 3 for 10 with 2 walks since being called up. 2/6 with 2 BBs and a double in 2 starts. After last night, 1/5 in PH chances. It bugs me to no end that Lou didn't replace Soriano with Murton last night and that Murton will, at best, platoon in the OF even now. Didn't get the start against the LHP, didn't get to sub when the starter at his regular position got injured. I've joked before about what Murton must have done to Lou, but I'm partially serious. Matt must have pissed Lou off in some way. Maybe it goes back to the dispute over the change in Murton's stance/swing, maybe Matt said something to Lou or others about his reduced role, maybe Lou got beat up by a redhead when he was a kid and holds it against all redheads. I wish I knew b/c the complete lack of playing time for Murton defies all explanation, given the information I have. i think he still holds a couple dropped balls in the OF and a couple of base-running mistakes from April against him. They were bad mistakes, but not bad enough to villify the guy over. Pagan/Fontenot:Lou :: Neifi/Macias:Dusty
  9. up to .267/.365/.356 with the Cubs. Good? no. better than his 1 for 15 start? Yeah
  10. yeah, don't get me wrong, I wish for nothing but the best from him and really hope he holds together a bullpen that seems to be unraveling at the moment. it was just weird. other people in the game thread felt it too
  11. I think equal parts of a) him coming out of the pen, b) him being really skinny and c) me psychologically moving on from Wood/Prior for my own sanity
  12. He's famous for having some of the quickest wrists in the history of the game. I think he would have been fine. i still think he would have juiced. it's awfully easy for him to sit on his high horse about Bonds when he never had the temptation to begin with I don't even know where to begin attacking that argument. why, because Aaron says he wouldn't? sure, it's presumptuous of me to just assume he would juice, but I think it's going to come to light that the vast majority of players in the 80's and 90's were doing SOMETHING, so why would Aaron be above that had he played in that era?
  13. this team has been cursed by the marginally acceptable play of Mike Fontenot. Lou's perception that Fontenot and Theriot are everyday MIF's has pushed DeRosa to the OF (where he's subpar defensively) and made Murton a 5th OF'er.
  14. I mentioned this in the Game Thread When Wood came into the game last night, I should have been excited. I wasn't. I was creeped out. His presence on the team just seemed weird. It's not his team anymore. Wood belongs on the field with Prior, Sosa and Alou. It's hard to explain, but it was kind of like seeing a friend from high school after many years. You spent a lot of good times with them in the past, but now they look different, you've changed....the chemistry is gone. Anyways, it was weird
  15. have you guys been watching the last 4 months? you actually think pie and/or murton will be made starters now? pie will be called up and sit on the bench. murton will continue to work his own butt groove in the pine. the everyday starting OF will be Floyd/Pagan/Jones and/or DeRosa. batting order will be: 1. Fontenot 2. Theriot 3. Lee 4. Ramirez 5. Floyd 6. DeRosa 7. Pagan 8. Kendall to think that ANY other situation is going to happen is really just being delusional. lou has shown NO signs that he will do anything but maintain the status quo with his lineup
  16. after saying Carlos Lee was coming up for the Cubs, Miller than said the Lee signed with the Brewers in the off season
  17. here comes the classic ESPN "10 minutes of highlights of the game you just spent 3 hours watching"
  18. that might have been the worst TV broadcast of a baseball game i've ever seen
  19. wow, i want to punch joe morgn in the face after that commetn
  20. Sean green playing a very Floyd-like RF tonight
  21. NEWSFLASH: Mets are better than the Cubs. More at 11
  22. She couldn't make it. this seriously reminds me of the OSU/Notre Dame football game a few years back when they repeatedly showed Brady Quinn's sister/A.J. Hawk's wife.... how soon we forget the hideous hag that was Kurt Warner's wife
  23. Ump is a tough guy. never mind the integrity of the game, let's tough this out buddy
