  1. has to be one of the biggest contracts in D-Ray history, right? where does it rank among the vaunted deals given to Boggs, Canseco, Navarro or Trachsel?
  2. Wow, the Penguins are on some kind of tear
  3. it's desperation, sure, but it's not their fault that Encarnacion took a ball to the eye socket
  4. Mark Prior has thrown over 200 innings since Carlos Zambrano's last shutout. Mark Prior has thrown ZERO innings since Rich Hill's last shutout. guh? Yes, Rich Hill threw a 9 inning, CG SHO in 2006, a year where he was averaging 5 2/3 IP per start. Blind Squirrel, meet nut. Scott Eyre throwing a complete game shutout would be a blind squirrel finding a nut. Hill is a very good starting pitcher who has as good a chance as almost anybody, and definitely any Cubs pitcher, to throw a complete game SO. sure he's a good pitcher, but he's also a typical Cubs pitcher; racks up high pitch counts early and gets yanked by the 7th. i'm not discrediting his stuff
  5. Harry from Mac, Jurko, and Harry said he has an inside source that tells him that Roberts will be a Cub in two days.        which two days?
  6. with Geary Claxton out, I can't see Penn State winning more than 2 or 3 more conference games
  7. my breakout players: Alex Rodriguez Johan Santana Ryan Braun Chase Utley Jake Peavy Aramis Ramirez Look out for these up and comers!
  8. the blues wouldn't be so bad if they actually fit and didn't look like pajamas/batting practice jerseys
  9. I'm not sure the Boston fans truly appreciate how unworldly Pedro was in 1999
  10. I think you have Connor slotted about right. He's a first rounder, but I don't think he's as good as Poszluzny (or Sean Lee for that matter, who could be top 15 next year)
  12. Democrat. I rarely lean towards Republicans on anything
  13. z. I can't see Hill pitching a complete game period, much less a shut out
  14. this must be what it feels like to be a Royals fan
  15. how many times do you think Archie has said, "Eli, why can't you be more like your brother?"
  16. My sources tell me we're close to deals with Kevin Tapani, Mark Clark and the corpse of Rod Beck
  17. Eli was never as good in college as Peyton, so I'm not sure why they expected him to be as good as a pro
  18. don't blame me, I was just adding a name to the list
  19. do they rip him for being peyton's brother, or for starting his career like a whiny bitch and then proceeding to not be very good?
  20. oh snap, claxton got hurt? well there goes that
  21. i endorse this idea
  22. 6'7" at age 16 is still huge for high school. My high school had over 1000 kids (grades 9-12) and maybe 2 guys were over 6'4", and one played volleyball instead of basketball.
  23. I saw that kid play in the Sac-Joaquin Section D-V title game at Arco Arena last year as a sophomore. Dude was all over the court doing everything and was good at it also. Both my friend and I came away very impressed with him (we weren't there to see him, rather just a couple section title games and Modesto Christian happened to be playing). EDIT: Holy crap. Just looked up that game on maxpreps and Reeves had 19 points, 19 rebounds and 8 assists in the game. WOW. Soccer, I believe the Modesto Bee had a story up that Reeves tossed up 52 pts and 28 boards against some school called Hughson last Saturday. I'm guessing Hughson isn't exactly that great but still, very impressive. Did a little searching and found this article and he actually had that big game against Clovis East. He only had 25-22-6 blocks against Hughson and it says for the season he's averaging 24 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and five blocks per game this year. I'm guessing prep basketball isn't that great in the San Joaquin Valley. or that he is doing what Garnett/Curry did, which was happen to be a 7 foot 18 year old in a league of 5'6" to 6' players
