i stand by my point that Sabathia won't be that expensive in terms of players. look at the Santana deal. if the Indians are looking at getting nothing for him and him walking vs. getting two good prospects, they'll take the latter. so long as Hendry doesn't outbid himself....
They supposedly want Rose, right? Would they have any interest in getting another guard to go along with him? if they lose Wade, what do they have left in terms of guards?
the Cardinals/Pirates game should be over by early in our game, so if the Cardinals lose, I think you just leave Marquis out there for the entire game, win or lose. Save the bullpen, and, if you're lucky, Marquis' arm falls off in the process
Sabathia on the last year of his contract isn't going to fetch 5 prospects from anyone. Name me the last 5 for 1 deal. Randy Johnson netted Seattle 3 prospects (albeit very good ones) from Houston. Look at what Santana netted Minnesota. Santana is a better pitcher and in a similar contract situation (in fact, the Mets got more pre-extension time out of him than the Cubs would out of Sabathia)
if Edmonds keeps hitting, let him bat 7th. he certaily hasn't cost us any games, and his defense has been good enough. we'll see how he does on the road though
his seeming bias against letting, oh, ANYONE else into the HoF irritates me too no one here (or anywhere) will argue his awesomeness as a ball player...he's arguably the best 2B ever, if not top 3. but he is the living embodiment of the Peter Principle when it comes to sports analysis
it's amazing how aggressive Detroit's penalty killing is without overplaying the puck. the Pens couldn't do crap on the power play and spent 1/2 of their 5 on 3 in their own zone. really frustrating
