  1. Not true. Baserunners advance at their own risk and the ball is only considered caught if it is actually caught. people are confusing "caught" with "out". When the infield fly is called, the batter is out.
  2. JIM EDMONDS SAYS SWEEP
  3. infield fly is only with runners on 1st/2nd or bases loaded
  4. Harden is pitching, so no runs today guys.
  5. I think we need at least two more versions...maybe three. Line drive to Soriano, who catches it, throwing it to first base. Midway to Lee, the ball is struck by a foreign object, deflecting it off course. Suddenly a cackling laugh is heard over the stadium P.A., and a spot light hits the rafters, where former Cubs prospect Julio Castillo stands, with a full cape and mask. "I AM BALL MAN!" he shrieks.
  6. hit and run, liner to LF, Soriano catches it and guns it to first but it short hops Lee, who has to recover and dive for the bag to get him
  7. What? I think both the Nady/Marte and Pudge trades clearly favored the Yankees
  8. Penn State is in a much worse position than the Packers. It will be sad to see it happen, but it almost should happen. It's about 99% likely that Penn State screws the pooch on the whole thing. They'll either keep him around forever, they'll fire him (PR nightmare), or, if they get him to leave amicably, will just make an internal promotion for new head coach instead of making a splash
  9. monthly statistical breakdowns are pretty arbitrary
  10. I was listening to the local ESPN radio show yesterday and they were saying that the Favre situation this year is a preview of what we might see with Paterno next year. The difference, of course, is that Paterno's contract is up after this season, but I'm pretty sure he won't leave unless he wants to, no matter how bad the AD wants him gone. If the team wins 8 or 9 games, you can't really fire him either. At least I wouldnt' want to be the AD who will be known for firing a legend
  11. a 1.42 WHIP from a reliever is, indeed, terrible
  12. Interesting read, but it reminds me of why I wasn't a math major.
  13. if MLB keeps approving these Veterans for Peanuts trades for the Yanks, I can see them surpassing the Rays. Tampa is in uncharted territory here, and a collapse down the stretch wouldn't surprise me at all
  14. don't worry, he'll be a Yankee or Red Sock before you know it
  15. whatever happened to the "Kendall batting 9th" lineups?
