  1. I've never been drunk at a game. I simply can't afford it. In other news, every bathroom on the concourse at The Cell has about 20 urinals and dudes still pee in the sink, so the trough is not exactly the worse I've seen
  2. Built-in excuses for Lou? Yes, it's stupid to keep a reliever on the active roster but not use him, in part because it's easy to get rusty over those long breaks. Why would he be wrong for criticizing Lou about Eyre being rusty? he would be right, i'm just saying that Keener98 is going to complain either way. Either he doesn't put him in and Lou is dumb, or he puts him in and Lou is dumb
  3. how soon you forget the guy that made two threads with his first two posts that said I told you so about Theriot this was worse
  4. I understand hes trying to make do right now, but there is no reason at all for Eyre to be banished right now. Hes done nothing to justify it at all except the first time he is brought in and gives up a run, you'll be the first one jumping in to question the move. I'm not sure what you would do differently. When your pen is taxed and you have a guy who should have a fresh arm, he needs to be used plain and simple. sure, but when he gives up 3 runs then you'll say "see, Lou can't use a pen because Eyre is rusty." I'm just saying there are built-in excuses for every failed bullpen situation
  5. you just outline a 3 step plan for teams not kicking to Hester.

  7. Umm, what? if he doesn't develop into a #1 or #2 WR, then his value is limited to returns, where most teams will kick the ball away from him or, on punts, just kick it out of bounds
  8. I voted Lilly, as the general thought was that the "lefty-crushing" Brewer lineup was going to tag him for 10 runs.
  9. It's gonna be horrible if/when he shows up and the media swarms. I genuinely feel sorry for that dude
  10. it was a bad move having Howry face Branyan. I don't think anyone's going to argue that. But it's not like he can go the rest of the year never playing Eyre or Howry again, and opposing GM's aren't falling over each other to give us more effective pen help. I have zero confidence that anyone in the minors would play any better than Howry right now.
  11. I don't particularly trust Wuertz, Ascanio or Hart in that situation either. Lou is trying to make do. He can't run with a 3 man pen all year
  12. if Hester never develops on the offensive side, then they just paid a guaranteed $15M to get other teams to kick the ball out of bounds
  13. The Cubs are something like 31-15 on CSN. What's their record on WGN? Not as good I suspect. This is important because the TV station they are broadcast on is the single most crucial element to winning or losing
  14. i was POSITIVE the Cubs had lost this game. I was watching it on a delay off the DVR. First, just as I start watching, CT IM's me with one word: "vomit". Then i'm perusing NSBB and I see the Howry rant. I was not expecting a positive outcome at all
  15. would you play a .115 hitter?
  16. That Penn State vs. Coastal Carolina game can't come soon enough, amirite? We're going to learn SO MUCH about how good Penn State is. PSU Athletic Director FTL
  17. this is one thread I do NOT want Meph allowed back in
  18. i've always said that the best way to showcase a guy is to never pitch him
  19. The Cubs still wouldn't have a shot, even if they started with Soto and Vitters. my point is why would they ask for unproven cheap minor leaguers when they could ask for proven, cheap major leaguers? it's not like they want to rebuild again. or do they....

  21. yes, after they make the National Title game with one loss (an ass kicking @USC). Their season will end 4 weeks before anyone else's and a lack of conference title game will help their BCS score I wonder just how hated OSU is. Easily the most hated team on this board. I guess we could conduct a poll :-) Notre Dame is more hated on this board
  22. If I were the Marlins and Hendry called me, the first name out of my mouth would be Soto
