  1. smoking pot, oh no. not that the players shouldn't be more careful, but some things about this country really piss me off. and i've never smoked pot in my life. the point isn't whether or not pot should be legal, it's that idiot student athletes who have been told a million times to stay out of trouble still seem to find it. a one-game suspension is generous
  2. I did in past years when I had EI, but I haven't that much this year, probably because I've watched so much more CNN and election coverage
  3. 3 players suspended from this weekend's PSU vs. Oregon St. game. Three PSU players caught in an apartment where there was some pot smoking going on. What idiots.
  4. Optimism: The Cubs have lost 5 straight and knocked 4 games off their magic number
  5. Didn't Arizona do a decent job of selling baseball to an area full of retired Cubs/everyone else fans? I get that Phoenix is a bigger metro area, and perhaps has more lifelong residents than retirees (though there are a ton of old folk), but still. It's all in the execution, and it's obviously been botched in south Florida. Phoenix was smart enough to have a brand new stadium on the first day of the team's existence, which drew initial interest
  6. You can't sell Marlins/Rays baseball to a state full of retired Yankees fans
  7. so many problems solved if the NFL implemented a better version of the NBA rookie contract
  8. refreshing honesty.....from the guy who planned to extort other Cubs fans ;)
  9. won't tons of people who "win" the lottery simply not buy tickets? For all I know, my Cubs emails go straight to my Bulk folder
  10. I can discern the convenience that the arbitrary line between "true fan" and "not a true fan" is between what the poster is willing and not willing to do. no no no. True fan = anyone who can't get tickets, Not True Fan = anyone else. ohh hahaha, snarky remarks about true fans and not true fans... Listen, I'm not judging anyone about being a true fan or not a true fan. I am just saying that those who work harder to get something should have a better chance of getting it. UPDATE: Sitting at a computer with 100 open VWR windows =/= "work"
  11. I can discern the convenience that the arbitrary line between "true fan" and "not a true fan" is between what the poster is willing and not willing to do. no no no. True fan = anyone who can't get tickets, Not True Fan = anyone else.
  12. first of all, "true fans"....LOL secondly, no person is more "deserving" of tickets than another. welcome to capitalism, where the fattest wallet always wins
  13. computers don't play baseball /joe morgan
  14. here's hoping Dempster isn't finally hitting the wall due to workload. He has 35 more IP this year than 06 and 07 combined
  15. Hey Ski. The correct name is "Dusty Baker's Reds", or DBR for short. Fix that ish!
  16. the last 2 losses have been coupled with losses by MIL and STL, so we haven't lost ground. I'm a little worried, but this isn't like Cleveland catching up to the Sox
  17. awwwww, now you guys can't buy 20 tickets and sell 16 of them at 10x face value on StubHub :-({|=
  18. the Cubs had 15 hits and 8 walks. They scored 7 runs. Normally, that would be enough to win just about any ball game. Last night's loss was not on the offense
  19. The table saw always scares the hell out of me. I try to get someone to help me whenever I use mine. I've known too many people who had bad injuries because they were too impatient and decided to rip a 4x8 sheet of plywood by themselves
  20. Or not. What Valverde does is no different than what Zambrano does. Zero percent different.
  21. most people who hate home run celebrations are old-timers or olde thyme thinking traditionalist who wouldn't know a good time if it bit them in the butt
  22. Howry's September ERA is INFINITY
  23. Kudos to ECU's AD for managing to schedule two straight home games against BCS teams. that's a tough thing for a C-USA team to pull off
