  1. thanks for the clarification
  2. they called time out with 31 seconds. it's ten seconds to get across half court from when the ball is inbounded, not 10 seconds from the 35 seconds when the possession began. Is that rule different in the NBA then? I swear I've seen basketball games where teams take a timeout in the back court and the announcers say "they need to remember that they only have X seconds to cross mid court once they inbound it".
  3. I don't believe PSU will suck, I believe Illinois will be much improved over this year, Tisdale and Davis with more bulk and strength just might form the best front court tandem in the B10. McCamey will improve, and the non-factor Legion will become a factor. Probably. I think PSU will drop in the standings next year less because they will suck and more because the rest of the league will be better.
  4. everyone was getting mugged in the paint. Battle got bumped 2 or 3 times on his way to the game winning basket. There were moving picks all over the place. I'm surprised they called any fouls at all. And I know you guys want to make yourselves feel better by saying PSU will suck again next year, but Cornley is the only important player graduating, and there a couple of decent big men coming in next year. Will they be in the top 4 in the conference again? No. But I don't think they'll plummet to last place again. The conference will be decided by freshmen next year, as most of the key players throughout the Big 10 are underclassmen.
  5. I love that they got rid of DePodesta in order to give $50 million to Juan Pierre. Quite the brain trust down there in LA
  6. i'm still not convinced PSU is in.
  7. funny how Sulley didn't mention the blown goal-tending call OR the blown shot clock violation OR the non-call when Illinois was still in their backcourt with 23 seconds on the shot clock. That said, nice to see PSU make up for those calls and that Battle made the game winner despite a terrible shooting night. I only saw the second half, but it was a bizarrely officiated game; both teams were beating the hell out of each other down low, but they were calling ticky-tack fouls left and right. Strange. Battle was completely exhausted by the end there. If PSU/Illinois is a rematch in the BTT, Illinois is at a HUGE advantage: they'll have 8 days off (while PSU still has a road game Sunday). Battle can't play this many minutes 3 days in a row in the BTT and expect to be productive. I'm really afraid of a let down game @Iowa now.
  8. so far, MLBN has just been simulcasting whichever FSN or local sports network is carrying the game.
  9. what are the bad losses? temple and rhode island are both in the 40s in RPI. the worst RPI team penn state has lost to is rhode island, who's #48. they don't have any bad losses, really. georgia tech isn't that good, but they've beaten wake and miami at home, so i'd say that's a decent ooc win. otherwise it's a bunch of trash. if penn st gets in it'll be because they beat two of the top three teams in the conference on the road. bad per Pomeroy I should have said
  10. Penn State could end up short due to their terrible OOC schedule as well. Beating NJIT isn't exactly going to win you big points Penn State's problem was losing to Rhode Island and Temple and getting stuck with a nothing to gain matchup against GA Tech in the challenge. Correct. Two "bad" losses, no good OOC wins, and a bunch of OOC garbage to pad the record. If they make it, it will be on the strength of wins against every team above them in the conference standings and perhaps 1 or 2 BTT wins
  11. I was going to post what Pomeroy thought, but that Illini game is mysteriously gone from Penn State's page on his site
  12. I was pretty surprised to see the line for tonight's PSU vs. Illinois game set at "pick em'" I know it's at home for PSU, but Illinois is still (on paper) the better team
  13. Penn State could end up short due to their terrible OOC schedule as well. Beating NJIT isn't exactly going to win you big points
  14. that would be dumb.
  15. ESPN.com has a rumor about TO going to the Redskins, but I don't have Insider to read it
  16. the 3rd year option doesn't kick in unless he plays a certain number of games, yes
  17. the irony of that segment was that they were using Youkilis as an example, and he's one guy who the "olde thyme" scouts had no use for because he was slow, fat, didn't hit for power and wasn't a great defender. Billy Beane wanted him bad, and would have landed him had Theo Epstein not been the Asst. GM of Boston at the time
  18. BC's resume: 20-10 overall, 2-4 vs. the top 25, 4-6 vs. the top 50, 2 losses outside the top 100, 6-6 R/N record, 7-5 in their last 12, SOS 47 To be honest, those 2 bad losses hurt their profile a lot, and they've had a fairly easy ACC schedule to get to 9-7 in the conference (the only upper tier team they played twice was Wake, while the only lower tier team they didn't play twice was VA). How is their profile that much different from, say, Northwestern's? If you think MSU/Purdue are on par with Duke/UNC I guess, but I don't Northwestern played MSU/Purdue 4 times. BC played Duke/UNC twice. true, so there's no telling what BC would have done had they had rematches. It's not a good comparison.

  20. Pomeroy HATES Penn State. They have PSU at #80 while Northwestern is at #61.
  21. the Bears could offer him a billion dollars and he wouldn't come here. T.O. is all about his numbers, and he knows that Orton won't get them for him
  22. I'll guess that Team B is Northwestern
  23. OU's case for a #1 seed rests entirely on how the committee treats the losses @Texas and to KU without Blake Griffin. But on your list I like MSU over both Louisville and Memphis. I'd probably favor MSU resume more than UConn's too. Not that the committee looks at it, but Pomeroy has Memphis as the #1 team in the country right now.
