    Simple answer: yes. But there is such a wide variety of "reality" programming that I feel I need to parse it a bit. I watch some competition shows (Survivor, Amazing Race, American Idol) and a lot of DIY type shows. I don't watch anything celebrity related, don't watch any of the crap on MTV/VH1, etc. It's painting with a pretty broad brush to lump, say, Survivor together with I Love Money

    The best thing for these players to do is to call the guy's bluff; clearly, the guy covets a signed game bat or whatever more than the ball, so if you say, "Nah, that's cool, you keep it," I'm sure he'd be spinning his wheels trying to negotiate a lesser deal
