  1. UMMM.. For the same reason they are pulling away from the Lowell debate. They have a HUGE logjam at first. Giambi's contract make him unmovable. And with our outfield logjam, he can only DH so many times. They have 3 other mediocre back-ups on the roster. Now next year when Giambi's contract is gone, they have an opening. However, then Big Tex becomes a free agent (although he is a Boras client).
  2. You're a Missouri fan? Lol. Didn't say I was a fan, but I am interested.
  3. Andrew Jones and his father negotiated his last deal with Atlanta but Boras is still his agent. Boras needs to realize that the most money does not make the best situation for his clients. I know it is his job to get them the most he can. The players need to realize HE works for THEM and that they alone are responsible for their destiny. If they don't want to play for the team offering the most, they should speak up and make the agent go to other teams and get the most money from the teams that player would like to play for. It is called free agent because the player can decide where he plays, not his agent.
  4. How about if UCONN beats WVU (a miricle, I know) next week and takes the Big East Championship, what kind of bowl do you think for them? How about if they lose?
  5. Mizzou moves up to #3!! Unreal. I have been listening to all the scenarios on how they get to a title game and thought it was outrageous. Now if they beat Kansas next week, are they getting the bid?
  6. Before or after IMB heals? I don't know if you should hit a guy with a metal jaw.
  7. Boras will be fine, his busines will be fine. I think it is about time the players took some responsibleity for their own actions. If he puts them in a bad spot, they can always say No, I want to go here so make the best deal you can. The players are men, not boys being led by the nose.
  8. I always prefered M&F Girbaud anyway
  9. It is no longer the sub-culture I grew up with. It is very mainstream and definately here to stay!
  10. They would more than double ticket prices if they won a World Series. In contrast to this, the Red Sox have announced a 9% increase in ticket prices. This after 2 rings in 4 years, how do the Cubs justify 20-25%?
  11. The talk in St. Louis is that the cards are aware they will get a low prospect and have to eat some of the Salary. The reports vary from the cards taking 12-18 Million of the 36 he is owed. I know Rolen Is no longer the Scott Rolen of old, But he plays decent defense for 6-8 Million a year. I think at that price you might see some interest. Maybe Florida after they dump Miggy. Maybe either LA team.
  12. A-Rod approached the Yanks without Boras. The Yanks can not talk money to a player without his agent present, per the CBA. Boras is involved, but only as an advisor. Don't feel sorry for Boras, he will still get his money. The deal bounces around 10/220 to 10/290, depending on who reports it. I also heard 10/260. So I will wait for the press conference to pass judgement. But here are my options, 10/220-235 Hank wins, 10/250 push 10/260-290 Hank is an ass.
  13. You will be disappointed. This is nothing more than BorA$$ covering his and A-Rods behinds. He told A-Rod to opt out and go for 350+. It didn't work, so he told A-Rod to reach out and nab the Yankees. And for all the rhetoric spouted by Hank Stienbrenner, the Yankees have apparently caved. BorA$$ got the Yankees to pull a Tom Hicks and basically bid against themselves and give A-Rod a 10 year 290 Million (reported on yankees.com) deal. He did this while no team was going to give A-Rod 10 years or more than 25 per. The Yanks could have bullied A-Rod into the reasonable contract of 8/200-220, but NO. They are giving him a BACKLOADED 10 year deal that will be a monstrous burden in 7-8 years. BORAS IS A GENIOUS. Again shooting off is mouth and just when you thought it was time he got his, WHAM another biggest contract ever. Oh, and YES, A-Rod douched the Yanks and Baseball with his "LOOK AT ME" opt out, and yet he gets a raise. What a world. Tomorrow everyone should go give their boss the finger, and then wait two days and go back and say "Sorry, can I have a raise?" Let's see what happens.
  14. A-Rod reported talking personally to the Steinbummers on his website. I think it is all B.S. because no one is going over 10/275. So he tucked his tail, kissed some butt and is just trying to bring the Yankees along (ala Greg Maddux) to drive up the price for Aneheim or L.A.
  15. Not only that, try thinking of the last good CF the Cubs have had. Brian McRae was alright The last good one was probably Rick Monday in the mid 70s iirc. using BR Adolfo Phillips was good for a year before Monday. Then you got Richie Ashburn. Man it's dry How about Bob Denier? He was alright in CF.
  16. I think you misread. It is: Kevin Youkilis hits FOUR kids.
  17. Because they pay for garbage. Just because you spend money doesn't mean you will win.
  18. Also not a big enough of a difference to warrent 10-15 million more per season. IMHO Let's see, 40 runs on defense, give or take. ARods about ten runs better on offense these days, give or take. So a 50 run difference isn't worth fifteen million to you? That's ludicrous. I don't get you ridiculas assesment of 40 defensive runs. Where is this from? How is it figured? I know you are a stats man, but show me this plaese. I have followed the post and don't see your logic. I don't see how it is measured.
  19. I won't beleive he is out of New York, until he signs or they sign another3B. BorA$$ will always go back to the Yankees for one last shot. But I read a report where A-Rod has said he would like to go to Boston. Boras isn't part of the negotiations. A-Rod is using a 3rd party I just read that, in the NY Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/sports/baseball/15yanks.html?ref=sports

  21. I agree the voting should have been closer. CC is grateful the voting is done before the ALCS. This should have been as close as NL ROY.
  22. I didn't know you could smoke, snort or inject an Xbox.
  23. The problem is his worst season was still pretty darn good.
  24. it blows away the $11.75M or whatever that Hoffman makes (currently the highest for a reliever) I agree 15m is too much for a closer. But let's not compare Mo and Hoffman. I know Everyone is going to jump all over me on this one, so........ENJOY.
