  1. Also not a big enough of a difference to warrent 10-15 million more per season. IMHO
  2. While his albums do not do well commercially, he does not suck. He is very well respected. Be careful or there will be a Nas s. Jay Z thread.
  3. Manny plus 10 M per year? Any day of the week.
  4. Jim Hendry will win GM of the year. Thank goodness the Cubs are in the NL central.
  5. Thats irresponsible reporting if they report Monroe is the head of any trade package. Anyways, I'd rather have Fukudome than Crawford any day of the week. -Fukudome is better in the area we need more help in, OBP -Fukudome doesn't cost anything in terms of players -Fukudome will probably be making less than Crawford by the end of his contract. Fukudome is older and most definately cost more. Crawford is due 23.5 mill over the next 3 years. If Fukudome doesn't at least get 8-10 mill per over 4 years I'd be surprised I read 10-12 per for 4-6 years. He has a few offers from Japanese clubs.
  6. Just an FYI, Yanks boards are not happy with this deal. Nobody likes the 4th year, and the 13 per is 3M too much.
  7. You have to make the call. You can figure out how to replace hill as you progress towards a deal. Crawford is deserving of a call!
  8. Wow glad to see you coming around. And here I thought I was wasting my time.
  9. alas, Joe Carter is no longer with us Harry after the 4th inning, LOL
  10. It is less than the Mets are rumored to be prepared to offer him in the A.M.
  11. Why the Yanks just gave him INSANE money. Plus they caved on the fourth year, that was the bump in their offer that came today! I think the Mets would have tried to sign him. 13 Million for Posada isn't that crazy if you consider Todd Jones now makes 7! Really, it's just annoying because I picked the Mets for Posada in the FA contest! The Mets were after him, He had lunch a couple of times with Omar. That is what pushed the Yanks to the fourth year! Isn't that tampering? I don't get all these managers/gms talking about players, or meeting with players prior to the start of FA. I thought that was tampering? You are not supposed to talk dollars, but you apparently can meet.

  13. Call him whatever you want. It didn't say Michael on the back of his jersey.

  15. Contract is too long, but I agree that he can always slide to 1st base and DH. He will DH often anyway to stay fresh. I think Rivera is the more important of the two. Wish Cashman would have given him the 4/40 it would have taken at the beginning of last season. Relieves cost to damn much now. I remember yelling at the thought of giving Wettland $5M per after '96.
  16. Yes, those THREE blown saves he had last year were horrible. Especially in comparison to his TWENTY EIGHT converted saves. Dempster isn't that bad. How many of those 28 did he come in with a 2 or more run lead and then give up a run (or two)?
  17. I give up fighting about the bullpen. It is what it is. I hope they don't lose Wood. He can negotiate with anyone as of today. Also hope Marmol is as good next year. Anything is better than (painfully) watching Dumpster coming into the game.
  18. Furcal? Hendry wanted him or Pierre and wound up with one. Last season he said he would get Soriano and he did. If he wants Fukudome just as bad, I can only hope he would be able to get it done. Even if it means overpaying at the end of the contract? Like he did with Soriano. What is the Salary expectations for this guy? You can't get an impact bat without paying for it if you're farm system isn't producing it. There is no other option. What is the rumored contract for this guy? Just curious.
  19. I think I posted in a different thread that I'm convinced it's all about opening up the closer spot as they negotiate with Wood. OK, that's bush league though. You could keep something like that behind closed doors. Why box the entire organization into an important decision like that with 5 months to go before opening day? Now if they make further changes and Demp isn't a starter, they look like liars. If they kept it "behind closed doors", how does Wood know they've done it at all? Announcing it publicly would be a way to prove to him that the larger role he wants is actually open. And as Beertown Cubbie has pointed out, could be beneficial if they're trying to move Dempster (which I also believe). Really, I can't think of any other (good) reasons why they'd announce something like this now, while they're negotiating with Wood. A whole lot can and probably will happen by spring training, and if Dempster is indeed in the rotation, he'll either be decent or he'll be back in the pen. Hopefully. Didn't Wood say he wants to try to start again? Or was that a similar type of ploy to up his asking price?

  21. The "bad guys" are the idiot Yankees fans who villified ARod for every move he made (and then pretended they weren't blaming ARod), the idiot media who constantly hounded ARod, and the idiot Yankees insiders (including Joe Torre and Jeter) who fed the ARod feeding frenzy. I have repeatedly said that I am one Yankee fan that never boo'd A-Rod. I want anyone wearing my teams uni to suceed. But that doesn't mean I have to like the guy. I have admitted his greatness, but I was never a fan when he was in Seattle or Texas. His numbers speak for themselves, so does his salary. I simply want Payroll down and have said MANY times on here that he is not the reason the Yankees struggle in the post-season. There are several players that I would like elsewhere, some still current Yankees and some (THANKFULLY) former Yankees.
  22. Are you serious? Stafford outplayed him. Yes. The game proved that he's the most important player in the country. sure, give it him and continue the rich tradition of heisman winners who did squat on sundays Would you rather have a Heisman winning QB or a Gold Glove/ Silver Slugger at SS?
