  1. This lineup can be so good if Edmonds can just keep producint at a decent clip like he has the past couple weeks.
  2. I think the Cubs will be ok provided Derrek Lee continues hitting the ball as he did last night. Ok, this is getting ridiculous. That's an 0-2 pitch too, and a fastball. Not defending him, but that is a good 0-2 pitch to a guy who took yo deep last time. There wasn't an intent to hit him, just back him up a bit.
  3. We're not going to tolerate accidents? We're not going to tolerate Soriano getting drilled with a pitch near his face. I understand the frustration, but... Soriano is asking for that every AB. He is right on top of the plate, and leaning over it. That pitch wasn't really THAT far inside. That ball doesn't come within a foot of Ramirez if he was hitting. That's kind of a funny comparisons as it seems like Ramirez gets hit on the hands (or at least comes close to it) at least once a week I was just using Ramirez as an example because he was the one hitting at the time of the post. Point remains, Soriano is leaning over the plate in every AB.
  4. I bet it's broken. of course YOU do. It's a fastball right off the hand that is clutching a bat. That most likely will result in a broken bone from what I've seen. Just being honest. What exactly have you seen? I have no idea how serious the injury may or may not be. Although Soriano going to the hospital to get x-rays doesn't sound good. Getting an X-ray is a very common, not good or bad sign. Just X-ray it and see if there is anything there. I don't remember many players getting taken immediately to the hospital during a game to X-Ray something that was no big deal It would be uncommon for them not to take him to get an x-ray. That is a very common practice if a guy is taken out of a game.
  5. I don't understand this whole "it was a glancing blow because it ricocheted to his neck" thing. It could have hit him square at that speed and it still would have ricocheted somewhere, it's not just going to plop down to the ground. I know, but I've seen plenty more guys get in the hand that looked a lot worse than that did. Just have to wait and see what the x-rays say.

  8. I don't think it was intentional. There wasn't any reason for it in that situation. I see all the resident NSBB medical experts have declared it a broken hand. Who knows... It did look like more of a glancing blow and then ricochet up to the neck. Just have to wait and see.
  9. Chipper looked like Kirk Gibson running to first on that base hit.
  10. Jordan Crawford is transferring from IU. There are no, zero, nada, zilch, returning scholarship players on next year's team. I can't even say I'm that upset. Crawford is a nice player, but he wouldn't have made a difference next season. Crean has his work cut out for him.
  11. During the Yankees/A's game last night the YES network announcers mentioned that Gary Hughes was in attendance. I'm sure he was just making his regular rounds.
  12. He's going on the DL. Ducanc has already been brought up. LaRussa had this to say:
  13. Come on DeRosa, this would be a big insurance run.
  14. He pitched in it last year. And look what happened for the series. Forget another starter, we need a shutdown reliever at the deadline. That, or teach Marmol to throw left-handed. I know, I was just kidding around. I understand the fears about Marmol, but Lou has mentioned several times that he is aware of it and they are monitoring it. I think it gets a little too much worry around here, everytime he comes in sesveral comments are made.
  15. Rather it be high and away than for him to miss his spot down and in.
  16. Lilly has no intentions of pitching to Jones.
  17. Making a throw with a guy sliding into you isn't the easiest thing to do.
  18. Haha... What the Hell was Lou doing just there?
  19. Oh, I know. I am just amazed at how far he has fallen. He had the huge extension and now is in the minors. What a horrid start so far for the Tigers. Yeah, its not good. It isn't that surprising though. Willis has never had picture perfect mechanics. Too many things can, and have, gone wrong in that delivery. One wonders if he hadn't had so much success in 2003 if they would have tried to fix this before now. but 2003 wasn't his only successful year. I know. I refrenced 2003 because that was the year he broke onto the scene. At that point maybe FLA just didn't want to try and change which wasn't yet broke.

  21. Its not because he isn't good enough for AA, or AA. He's being sent to the FSL because that is their Spring Training complex, and there is going to be more organizational supervision there.
