  1. I will be right behind home plate in the tunnel photographing that game. I refuse to wave at the camera though.
  2. Wuertz needs to get back on track. The numbers aren't terrible, but he's had some stinker outing lately.
  3. I'm halfway through reading Living on the Black by John Feinstein. The book follows Tom Glavine and Mike Mussina throughout the 2007 season. It is interesting to see how Glavine looks at things. He knows he needs certain pitches called to be effective. He also is now more willing to come inside. When he got to the Mets, Rick Petersen told him that he cant live low and away 100% of the time, come inside to keep people honest. It is interesting to read about how he approaches certain game situations. He does comment in the book that Aramis Ramirez owns him, so hopefully that continues.
  4. At the start of the trip I just wanted to see a winning road trip. That can still be accomplished. A win tonight sends them back home one game better than when they left.
  5. I remember that very well. I was in town, my wife (then girlfriend) went shopping and I went to the game. Bought a single ticket, it was one of those in the first row the 200 level by the concourse ramp where there was only one seat. I had a great time. I have been to two games by myself. Last year was game 3 of the NLDS. Didn't have as much fun that night.
  6. He's been an ass to the media in the past and reportedly doesn't take coaching really well. I was referring to Reds44 second point. He had never tasted defeat in high school, or really until he got to AAA last year. Homer had a bit of a "Nuke Laloosh" act and had a "when in doubt, use my fastball" mindset. He found out that AAA hitters can hit his fastball, and it took him a while to come around to what the coaching staff in Louisville was trying to tell him. The organization as a whole was trying to tell him that since he signed, wanted him to develop other pitches. It took him a while to come around to the fact that his fastball is not always going to bail him out. This year he was getting frustrated by his relativ elack of success and that guys like Volquez, Cueto, Votto, bruce, etc were passing him by on the way to Cincinnati. I do know for a fact that he had more than one run in with the AAA manager and as of a week or two ago they were not speaking. I don't think he's a bad guy, he was fine in the dealings I had with him, but he's earned that label. He's also one of thse guys that particularly don't like baseball, but just happen to be good at it.
  7. UK just lost their coach to Mississippi State. Curious to see if that has an impact on those guys or not.
  8. I think you are severely underestimating Stone's knowledge of the game. If that is the only thing you took away from his broadcasts you weren't listening very much.
  9. $$$ demands College committment I'm sure he'd have been picked by someone at this point if he was a sure sign.
  10. This isn't a fantasy draft, a lot of factors involved in these picks.
  11. Krasik shouldn't even bother leaving the podium at this pace.
  12. The guy announcing the picks right now is the same guy who always did it on the conference calls.
  13. Actually, it's pretty easy to have a reason to not like the selection of a college reliever in the first round, especially one that's as unpolished as Cashner is. I'm personally indifferent about the pick. I don't think it's as bad as some are making it out to be though.
  14. Why? The post above yours aptly covers my reasoning. Huh? A weird comaprison to the NFL Draft is your reasoning? Nobody knows how any of these kids are going to turn out. They are not many guarantees in the MLB draft. To be too high or too low about a pick at this point doesn't make much sense. Let it play out.
  15. If Melville is still there at 41 (and if we take him), that'll make the Cashner pick a lot easier to swallow. To my mind, the only way to cancel out the no-upside pick of Cashner was to grab Hewitt at 41... and now that's not an option. I think it is a little extreme to "LOVE" or "HATE" a pick at this point. They are all a relative unknown. Its easy to throw around disgust about a pick, but a bit harder to give an actual reason for it.
  16. Did he come with a nice layer of mositure?
  17. I know its cool to bash ESPN, but can they do differently? The knock all along about covering the draft is that not many people know who these guys are.
