  1. Meph's boy Khalil Greene would make an OK backup at SS and has some pop off the right side of the plate. Khalil Greene would be pointless, he doesn't have pop this year. The argument everyone likes to make about how well he would do outside Petco doesn't really hold water this year. He's slugging higher at home then on the road. And when I say higher, that doesn't exactly means that its high. Home: SLG% .362 Road: SLG% .298 He has been terrible.
  2. Yea Im so glad you are here to pop in sparingly to remind people of such things that have been discussed around here..... Not sure what that means, was just my opinion. Silly me for thinking this was a place where you could post opinions. whatever man Pm sent... Have I done something to you? You've lost me.

  4. OMG...somebody ---SOAPDROPPING--- pinch me! I'm just happy he's throwing strikes. He should dominate that level of competition.
  5. Yea Im so glad you are here to pop in sparingly to remind people of such things that have been discussed around here..... What?
  6. Eric Patterson has also homered for Sacramento tonight... Is it too late for a do-over?
  7. Murton hitting 2nd tonight for Oakland with Gallagher on the mound.
  8. They are most likely just waiting to activate Soriano after the ASB. I don't think you'll see 13 pitchers past this next 3 games.
  9. Wuertz has to make it through this inning since his spot is due up 4th next inning. Long way to go though, but I;d still take 2/3 the rest of the way.
  10. I think some are getting a little carried away with this. Its not bad to root for the guy, I just wouldn't expect too much. This is the first decent stretch he's had in AAA since 2006.
  11. Where's Julio Zuleta? He was the original DuBois. A fastball hitter who never saw a breaking pitch he could hit. He was also a message board favorite.
  12. Exactly, and to be fair he's done it in limited duty. I wouldn't go as far to call him a "power" bat off the bench, but he's proven he can provide a decent SLG%.
  13. I really like what Fontenot has done this year as basically the last guy on the bench. Its obvious his playing time will greatly diminish when Soriano returns, but could still be a valuable asset. .262/.356/.485
  14. I've heard Friday, but I don't know if its confirmed. I hope for Friday as well, Saturday's game is a blackout except for Chicago area.
  15. The Cubs just need to try to win each series. The Reds have some good hitters, I'm not expecting a sweep.
  16. If I were them, and could get a good deal for Rich Harden, I would be. As Vance said, Beane goes all in or all out. If that 5-6 becomes 8 prior to 7/31, he'll sell if we offer a good deal. Yeah, if you were Beane, but Beane is Beane, and Beane never sells. Perhaps he's looking at the pythag and thinking his team should be in first. Odds are it's going to take a huge offer to entice him to make a move. You never know with Beane. He could be looking at the pythag, but that really only tells part of the story. Its a useful tool, but not an absolute indicator. I'd expect a package built around Gallagher. Incidentally, I'd prefer to keep Gallagher over Hill at this point.
  17. I thought he was going to be in perfect position to start the ASG. This pretty much puts both Lincecum and Demp out of the ASG.
  18. O RLY? on the cubs' side: soto is way better than kendall derosa at this point is a little better than weeks ramirez is easily better than hall on the brewers' side: hardy is better than theriot fielder is marginally better than lee cameron is better than edmonds/johnson braun is way better than whoever's playing left in soriano's absence hart is probably slightly better than fukudome, but it's close the same mets that trail the brewers by either 5 or 6 games, pending the outcome of their game today? BP has the NL east at roughly a 10% chance of winning the wild card, so your confidence in this respect is unwarranted. Soto>Kendall Lee>Fielder DeRosa>Weeks Theriot Ramirez>Hall Hart Edmonds/Johnson>Cameron, when Edmonds and Johnson are properly platooned vs RHPs/LHPs Soriano Yeah, because that is how you decide which team is better....
  19. I think this is great for the NL Central. It really improves the Brewers, and sure, that is a threat to the Cubs but it does make things more exciting. Not sure what Hendry will do, but I think it is obvious the Cubs are in need of another quality SP. Should be an interesting couple of weeks.
