  1. Brenly not really holding back here. Even after the dead-ass comment.
  2. Hah! Brenly calling them a"dead-ass team".
  3. This team is a freakin joke. My god. Z's act is getting old.
  4. Manager fail. Bailey leading off the 9th, lol. Yeah, Geren screwed that one up.
  5. Probably not the performances that Wuertz and Blevins were wanting...
  6. One of the few times in a while where it is quite clear there are lots of empty seats at Wrigley. I'm heading up in about a month and have tickets to one game, but looking for another. After seeing this, I might just try my luck outside the park for tickets instead of buying elsewhere online. Any advice?
  7. That was a pretty good situation for it though. Getting in scoring position with the middle of the order coming up. If he's thrown out your still in good shape with Lee/Ramirez/Nady due next inning. Balk helps too.
  8. Bailey has the stuff, that has never been a doubt. He did not take to coaching early on in his minor league career. He thought he could get everyone out with his fastball, and he did, until he came against more advanced hitters in AAA. The Reds had their fill of him and letting get beat around a bit to make their point. Last year he seemed to put it together in the second part of the year. Curious to see if he builds off that or goes back to his old ways.
  9. Heh. I'll never forget his outing at Cincinnati late that year. Was a fun game to be in attendance for.
  10. Silva keeping the ball down well so far.
  11. I don't think this is a problem. I've resigned myself that Millar will at least break camp with the team. Personally I'd be more in favor of Tracy, but that just might be his past (over 2 years ago) success clouding my judgment. It also might be due to the fact the Cubs never could seem to be able to get him out. But, that was the case with Jeff Blauser too, and we all know how that worked out.
  12. I'd argue Hulls deserves a spot on the all-freshman team over Barlow, and I don't think that is my IU bias talking. Hard to argue for anything with IU this year though.
  13. What happened with McCamey? I saw a brief highlight on CBS of him bumping Weber. What was the deal?
  14. In watching the play over, it looks as if Theriot didn't have much of a handle on the ball and mishandled the exchange. While I am not going to argue that Theriot has a rocket arm, it isn't as bad as it looked there. The Theriot snark is getting unsufferable, and I don't care too much about him one way or the other. Also, its clear to any fan, average or not, that Soriano is awful out there. No, he's not. Yes, when he screws up it's usually spectacular, but in all he's a plus defender and a defensive asset. Gotcha.
  15. exactly. Which is why I hate "average" sports fans. I'm actually envious of the average fan. Everytime the Cubs lose my day is ruined, whenever UK loses in b-ball my week is ruined. Even though i realize if the cubs lose 62 games it was the best season I have ever witnessed i still live and die on every win and loss. Sometimes I wish i was just an "average" fan. You have had quite a few ruined days depending on how long you have been a fan. Its just a game.

  17. Some will look for anything to criticize. I don't think it is any secret that despite all the LH hoopla the past year, the Cubs really could use a little more LH balance.
  18. I was honestly lukewarm on Crean when he was hired. Always thought he was a tad overrated and probably still is. Despite that, you can't argue one bit with his ability to get his team to play hard. When Creek went down I thought they were looking at last season all over again. I've been impressed with the play and effort though, with a few exceptions (Iowa). I still contend that Verdell Jones is a lot better than many say. I've always disagreed with the assessment that he's only playing so much because he plays at IU. He has his bonehead moments, but IU would be lost without him.
  19. So close, yet so far.
  20. I'm rooting for a round #3 in the Big10 tourney.
  21. Well, maybe it wasn't easy, but the outcome to me was never in doubt.
  22. Illinois will win easily.
