  1. I expected Wisconsin to make a run at some point. I really hope Iowa can hold them off.
  2. I'm really getting excited about Iowa's future. I'm really thinking they can make the tournament next year.
  3. I like that Wisconsin allows an average of 51 points a game and Iowa has 43 at half time. If Wisconsin wasn't hitting some jumpers the Hawks would be blowing them out.
  4. I don't think I could justify paying that much for college athletics.
  5. Miami is good at defense.
  6. My problem with Boozer is that he seems just a little lazy in everything he does. Slow to move his feet defensively, push off's here and there to get seperation, and soft to the rim instead of with authority. Sometimes that works out ok...and thats when he looks good. I agree. It seems he's had better energy as of late though, more specifically in the Boston game but I've seen it in other games recently to. I just think he may be having his best stretch as a Bull and I hope it continues because we need him.
  7. That Knicks team that made the Finals sucked also, but that was in a strike year. I feel like you could hand pick a good chunk of ECF participants from the early 2000's to give this award to. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2001.html I can't compute Milwaukee being in the ECF as recently as 12 years ago. I wonder if some of the teams that made the conference finals during that time period would miss the playoffs nowadays. It's hard for me to say because most of those (if not all, I haven't really checked so I'm talking out of my ass) won 50+ games. Which is a decent accomplishment, however the conference was so watered down and bad it's hard to say if that means anything.
  8. I'm getting a little excited about Boozer being a factor in the playoffs for us. His stats aren't as good as they were last year at this point but the eye test tells me he may be playing his best basketball as a Bull. He seems to be doing some things around the hoop lately as opposed to relying solely on the jumper and he's been getting some tough boards too. I've even noticed him doing something positive on defense a time or two. I hope he is getting better (or whatever you want to call it as player his age don't often just get better) and not wishful thinking.
  9. I still am having a hard time seeing Iowa beating Illinois at Illinois. I've never actually seen it happen and until it does I won't believe it ever will.
  10. They were good relative to the Eastern conference at the time. If you look at their roster though, I wonder what type of seed they would have had if that same team played this year.
  11. I would imagine there are scenarios where it would be more valuable, trade wise, to prevent the guy from playing as opposed to playing him. It's possible that you could try to sell a guy like Johnson but they could know you are full of [expletive] because they've seen him play. On the other hand, you could sell a guy like Butler, who hasn't played as much, and you may get the other team to buy into it a little. I mean, there are a lot of dumb NBA executives.
  12. I think a late first rounder has value in getting a solid older role player or someone like that. I don't there is much there in terms of getting a start player. Like if Shane Battier player for the Bobcats or something I could see Butler being used to get him.
  13. That Knicks team that made the Finals sucked also, but that was in a strike year. I feel like you could hand pick a good chunk of ECF participants from the early 2000's to give this award to.
  14. I still don't get how a top 3 team in the NBA is badly in need of anything.
  15. It sounds like Iowa is going to hire Greg Davis as their new OC. I know nothing about him aside from some blaming him for Texas' collapse a couple of years ago but I know there are people who know Texas football on here so do they have any insight on him?
  16. Or, more precisely, that everyone they talk to about upgrading their own roster is asking for Noah, Asik, and/or Gibson. True, I have a hard time seeing them trading Noah or Gibson unless it's for someone really good though.
  17. The Bulls have been in on a few post players it seems. It makes me wondering how hard they are shopping Asik.
  18. I have a hard time understanding how anyone can harbor this kind of hate for NU. They've been too irrelevant to hate and to tell the truth, I'd kind of like to see them make it. But at worst I'm indifferent about the Wildcats. I definitely understand how Iowa fans dislike Northwestern. Anyone else, not so much. Yep, Iowa fans can give plenty examples in both football and basketball since about 2000 or so as to why they dislike Northwestern.
  19. I wouldn't be against Iowa putting a final nail in their coffin. I think we still owe them for doing it to us a few times.
  20. I kind of like Beasley only because of the 2008 draft angle. I'm not sure what he'd do for our team though.
  21. OT. Not impressed.
  22. I don't see too many scenarios where Iowa finishes 5th. Purdue's easy schedule and IU-Purdue still playing each other hurts that considerably. Plus Iowa loses the tiebreaker to Purdue and depending on how the top of the conference shakes out maybe to IU as well. As for the strength of the conference, part of that is Iowa playing better now, and part of that is they've probably had the easiest conference schedule in the Big 10. Playing Michigan State, Ohio State, and Michigan only one time each (and avoiding road trips with 2 of those) has helped keep the losses down. Of course it hasn't helped them build much of a tournament resume either. I don't think they will but considering they play 3 teams who are in the bottom half of the standings and Wisconsin at home that they already beat and they are .5 games out of 5th it is possible. Still don't think they would or should get selected should they win out. I just thought it would be a weird scenario.
  23. So, Iowa could realistically finish 5th in the conference. Even if they did they wouldn't be in the tournament (you wouldn't think so at least.) That'd be weird considering the conference strength.
  24. Another upset over Wisconsin and a win over Nebraska, Illinois or Northwestern would give Iowa a .500 record for the season at worst and I'd be happy as hell with that.
  25. Are teams in hockey usually as streaky as the Hawks seem to be in the last few years (even the Stanley Cup year.). It seems like they always win a few in bunches or lose a few in bunches. Maybe it's just my perception.
