  1. On one hand it's disappointing and boring. On the other....not a lot really happened this week? Not just the Cubs. Some big moves yes but not a lot of action.
  2. I had a feeling upon seeing the terms that Schwarber went back to the Phillies and asked them to match his top offer elsewhere. It seemed he wanted to stay and Phillies wanted to keep him but weren't keen on going beyond 3/4 years. Guess they figured it was worth it. He's perfect for that lineup assuming they can address the rest of their OF.
  3. I just want us to come out of the next couple days with some kinda roster improvement. But this first day has been painfully slow.
  4. Well Boston signing Bichette would likely take them out on Bregman..
  5. OK so sign Bregman 5/140 and trade Shaw to the Marlins for Cabrera (and now he's closer to Mar a Lago so he'll be happy).
  6. Finally some more action. Pirates get a big OF prospect and a A-ball pitcher who posted some gaudy K numbers. Red Sox get a SP under control a couple more years, a hard throwing (albeit old) lefty and the Pirates' 5th rounder this summer. I like the deal for the Pirates.
  7. Pass. He's a nice power bat but has a big contract and can't play defense. I also don't really feel like helping out the Dodgers by giving them a prospect.
  8. Emilio Pagan back to the Reds, 2/20. The reliever market is moving.
  9. It's a fine depth signing. Ideally he never sees Wrigley but we needed infielders in Iowa and he can play several positions. Personally I've been a fan for awhile. I saw him play in Lehigh Valley. And I was at Phillies ST in 2018 ahead of his MLB debut and he was walking down the foul line during warmups and I asked if he could sign my hat and he came over right away and was super friendly and chatty and of course that stuck with me. And another fan came over and immediately asked Kingery if he was excited to play with Arrieta (who had reportedly signed with the Phillies that morning I think) and Kingery was unaware of the news and got super giddy like a kid. Always seemed like a good dude but the contract he got did not go over well and he was a bust.
  10. So much for him being the focus of our offseason. Pivot!
  11. Cerami got the goods https://x.com/Michael_Cerami/status/1992285585277383063?t=iIuSeCap16MUP7xE909N5A&s=19
  12. Born in Kentucky. Went to high school in Chatham, IL. And chose to sign with the Cardinals last offseason.
  13. Finally a move. He's been a fine middle reliever for a few years but was pretty great in 2025 (and the second half of 2024).
  14. And we non-tendered Eli Morgan. I know he had a lost year but that kinda sucks given we gave up a really interesting prospect for him a year ago.
  15. Yankees non-tendered Mark Leiter Jr and Scott Effross. And also Michael Arias (remember him?)
  16. Yeah he posted obscene numbers in the AFL but he's also going to be 25 in June and hasn't played in AA yet. I'll be curious to see where he starts the season.
  17. Also we non-tendered McGuire. Not unexpected.
  18. Rangers non-tendered Adolis Garcia. Maybe we should aim higher but he's a right fielder with a good glove and power. Potentially a RH complement to Caissie?
  19. Yeah that's like a ghost of rumors past. And honestly if the entire front office was completely caught off guard by him accepting the QO, then that's pretty damning. I kinda doubt that's the case. Maybe they thought he was leaning toward declining but you have to plan for the chance he accepts.
  20. After 10 that's quite a drop off. And I know he had a great debut and was a 2nd round pick but feels like Kepley is being over-ranked.
  21. I mean it's one year of Ward vs. four years of Rodriguez. If he's healthy that is a big get for the Angels. The obvious problem is he hasn't been healthy in a year and a half.
