Hey I'll take a flyer on Carlson too. Some people saying that it's McCormick because a Carlson signing hasn't happened but that looks like Carlson with a beard.
This is a solid low-cost pickup.
He was great in 2023 and I think dealt with an injury in 2025. At the very least gives us depth and another option as a backup OF.
Yeah that's fair. He's a bit away but comes with promise clearly.
Yeremy Cabrera is the other prospect going to WSH. Some potential in this group but seems like they went for quantity.
So that would be like us giving up, what......Wicks, Rojas, Christian Hernandez and Cole Mathis? Plus whoever else.
Think it really depends on what ceiling you have for Fien. Guess the Nats are enamored.
Feels like a heavy overpay on two Top 50 prospects for one year of Peralta.
Good to have Peralta out of the division but you know Williams will be a leadoff hitter pest against us for years and Sproat will be Peralta all over.
I was coming of age in the late 90s/early 2000s and so I loved David Kelton, Corey Patterson, Nic Jackson and Juan Cruz and thought all of them could be stars.
Also came to really like Brendan Harris and Francis Beltran and Brian Dopirak and Bobby Brownlie.
Not a single one panned out.
Yeah if we get Gallen then I expect Taillon and/or Rea to be dealt. Gallen is definitely not a need now but that rotation would have some serious potential.
Even then, he seems like more of Tyler Austin competition or a safeguard against Ballesteros being bad/injured. He is really a DH who can play 1B and OF (but not well).
Ideally Hoerner is the one brought back but Happ is also well liked and he loves it here so there's a non-zero chance he signs a team-friendly extension by the end of the summer.
That's not unreasonable for Realmuto in a vacuum but taking the rest of the offseason into account it's underwhelming and typical of the Phillies FO the last couple years. Band-aid fixes and additions at the fringes. They shelled out to keep Schwarber, yeah. And he's well liked here by everyone and still mashes. But the Phillies still feel one or two pieces away and they're not making that jump. They are now basically running back the same roster from last year's disappointment. Add in that they have a malcontent and overpaid Castellanos still on the roster.
Yeah I kinda wonder if Steve Cohen is so mad that he just blows past the Yankees' offer to get someone, anyone.
Both the Mets and Yankees are having brutal offseasons. Yankees missed out on everyone by holding a months-long staring contest with Bellinger.
