  1. This doesn't seem to make sense with DJ, Gleyber, Urshela and others on the roster. But the Rangers are eating almost all of his remaining salary.
  2. Bummer about Norwood being gone but at least we get an actual prospect back. Strong arm, was the Padres' No. 25 prospect. I guess we're only allowed to trade with them now.
  3. I was kinda rooting for Higgins to make the roster. I know having experience in your backup catcher is important but assuming Romine isn't out too long I wonder how much an upgrade you get from Higgins to Wolters. Also best of luck Norwood. Another Theo/Jed pitcher out the door.
  4. It sucks but I assume like half of the players in pro sports are chuds.
  5. Wrigley Field renamed Sinclair Making America Great Again Park at Wrigley Field or some horsefeathers. Ricketts talk about all the profits from such a move. Raise ticket prices. Let all the free agents walk. Say it was a tough fiscal year. Oh you said BOLD.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] Rather have him over Brothers. Bring him home!
  7. So Reds got basically salary relief and a lottery ticket prospect for Iglesias. Yikes.
  8. Kohl Stewart is another one who should be an easy DFA.
  9. I like Vargas better than Duffy, not a big fan of that though it doesn't move the needle much [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. Hey why not, let's kick it off. The Reds just released Noe Ramirez, who they received for Raisel Iglesias. I still have no idea what they were thinking with that one. Braves also DFA'd old friend from the offseason Phil Ervin. I assume there's no way we get him back but we did just release Cameron Maybin.
  11. You can argue he was overmatched last year and could use some more seasoning in the minors. You can also argue Sogard will not be better than him for a month or two and the team is still in contention. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I also hope Ross and Jed had a real conversation with Nico and talked about the expectations and what he did this spring and offseason because I would be understandably pissed if I were him.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. Are they that low on Amaya and Alzolay? That seems like they're trying to be different for the sake of it.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] So it goes. Seemed like a longshot to make the roster and I guess they didn't see enough to pay cash or a prospect to keep him.
  15. Bummer but wishing him well. He should get a good shot out of the Bucs pen. And this prospect is a large human. Maybe he'll pop like 30 homers this year and give us something to talk about. We don't have many big first base prospects in the system do we aside from Rivas?
  16. I almost wonder what else we can get out of him. Been in the system for a decade. He just can't get his control under control. I imagine this is his last spring with us unless this new delivery unlocks something.
  17. Maybe they'll play him at third base, just get real weird with it. Bc this seems like a "Rockies signing Ian Desmond with no spot at short or the OF available" kinda signing. They could be banking on Cain aging quickly or Avisail Garcia being bad again I suppose.
  18. Kinda surprised Stock made it through but that's a fun extra depth option.
  19. Really too bad for Underwood. Hoping he gets a chance elsewhere and does well. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if Maples was next to go off the 40 man. Dude's been in the system for nearly a decade.
  20. Re-organizing the bullpen chairs
  21. It's really not a big deal in the end, but it annoys me that we just let Ervin go and his spot is probably going to Maybin. I think Ervin would've handled that spot better. Honestly still prefer having both of them to giving a few million to Marisnick but whatever.
  22. Yeah this is fine with me. If he's willing to hang in AAA for a bit then that's cool. Surprised he signed somewhere with no clear path to playing time, let alone on the MLB roster but I like the depth. Also Maybin is still just 33 and I don't understand.
  23. Like others have said, he was trash last year but incredible in 2019. Solid buy-low guy. I like the Phillies but it seems like they've messed with a lot of guys the past few years so we'll see what happens.
