Our old pal Carl's Jr got called up by the Braves, gave up 3 runs in his first appearance and was promptly DFA'd. RIP.

I distinctly remember my younger brother who was I think like 13 or 14 at the time telling me he guaranteed Nomar wouldn't hit better than .250 with the Cubs after the trade and he insisted on betting me $5 and it was some pretty easy money so I think back on Nomar fondly for that.

I was surprised we didn't have any other options on the 40 man but ok. Ryan had been decent but with Brothers pitching well and Steele breaking out, another lefty was redundant.

Seems like he wanted to spend time with family. Guessing he didn't love being on the taxi squad. Glad there are no hard feelings there and maybe we'll see him back again.

It really was wild how much he fell off a cliff after signing that contract. Like, even his BB numbers took a dive. And yeah, I still remember seeing shots of the crowd at Wrigley the summer before (was it 2012?) and there were dudes in custom Cubs Pujols jerseys. I think we made out just fine.

    Keegan Thompson getting the call-up.

Replace Dan Winkler with Shelby Miller. WTF was that?

[tweet] [/tweet] Kazmar got a cup of coffee in 2008. Has spent the past 12 seasons in AAA. What a story.

Steele and Strop sent down for Winkler and Workman coming off COVID IL. I still don't know why we're choosing to give Winkler innings. Could say same for Maples. He is what he is at this point, he'll strike out three in one inning after walking the bases loaded. Steele looked pretty good, I'm sure he'll get another look soon. That reminded me, is Kyle Ryan dead?

Four catchers in that lineup. Impressive.

Next we're gonna hear we've hired their dad to be a coach or something (their dad also played in the bigs but his name doesn't begin with an A).

This doesn't seem to make sense with DJ, Gleyber, Urshela and others on the roster. But the Rangers are eating almost all of his remaining salary.

Bummer about Norwood being gone but at least we get an actual prospect back. Strong arm, was the Padres' No. 25 prospect. I guess we're only allowed to trade with them now.

    MLB did something good? What?

I was kinda rooting for Higgins to make the roster. I know having experience in your backup catcher is important but assuming Romine isn't out too long I wonder how much an upgrade you get from Higgins to Wolters. Also best of luck Norwood. Another Theo/Jed pitcher out the door.

It sucks but I assume like half of the players in pro sports are chuds.

Wrigley Field renamed Sinclair Making America Great Again Park at Wrigley Field or some horsefeathers. Ricketts talk about all the profits from such a move. Raise ticket prices. Let all the free agents walk. Say it was a tough fiscal year. Oh you said BOLD.

[tweet] [/tweet] Rather have him over Brothers. Bring him home!

So Reds got basically salary relief and a lottery ticket prospect for Iglesias. Yikes.
  20. Post Count Padder
Kohl Stewart is another one who should be an easy DFA.

I like Vargas better than Duffy, not a big fan of that though it doesn't move the needle much [tweet] [/tweet]

Hey why not, let's kick it off. The Reds just released Noe Ramirez, who they received for Raisel Iglesias. I still have no idea what they were thinking with that one. Braves also DFA'd old friend from the offseason Phil Ervin. I assume there's no way we get him back but we did just release Cameron Maybin.

You can argue he was overmatched last year and could use some more seasoning in the minors. You can also argue Sogard will not be better than him for a month or two and the team is still in contention. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I also hope Ross and Jed had a real conversation with Nico and talked about the expectations and what he did this spring and offseason because I would be understandably pissed if I were him.
