    I've been a fan for awhile so I'm thrilled about this. Looks like Nick Martini DFA'd. We also picked up someone named Dakota Chalmers from the Twins who we decided will require a 40 man spot.

    I just learned that Cubs icon Michael Wuertz is their pitching coach. Loved that guy for those couple years. That's pretty cool.I vaguely recall the board losing its s--t when we traded him away and he then had a great season for the A's.

    And we signed Dee Strange-Gordon to a minor league deal. Could see him getting a call up soon depending on Hoerner's injury.

    He had surgery, no timetable for return. I'm guessing he isn't coming back this season, truly sounds awful. Hoping he recovers. Also guessing he goes to 60 day IL and someone else gets the 40 man spot when needed.

    I am shocked that Nance has only been in the system since 2016. Seems like it's been longer. Mills has not looked great this year. Think he needs some time to figure it out.

    Our old pal Carl's Jr got called up by the Braves, gave up 3 runs in his first appearance and was promptly DFA'd. RIP.

    I distinctly remember my younger brother who was I think like 13 or 14 at the time telling me he guaranteed Nomar wouldn't hit better than .250 with the Cubs after the trade and he insisted on betting me $5 and it was some pretty easy money so I think back on Nomar fondly for that.

    I was surprised we didn't have any other options on the 40 man but ok. Ryan had been decent but with Brothers pitching well and Steele breaking out, another lefty was redundant.

    Seems like he wanted to spend time with family. Guessing he didn't love being on the taxi squad. Glad there are no hard feelings there and maybe we'll see him back again.

    It really was wild how much he fell off a cliff after signing that contract. Like, even his BB numbers took a dive. And yeah, I still remember seeing shots of the crowd at Wrigley the summer before (was it 2012?) and there were dudes in custom Cubs Pujols jerseys. I think we made out just fine.
