  1. Ok, how bout a cheap bullpen idea, Jamie Walker. He has done very well for the Tigers the past few years and here are his ERA/ Whip/ BBA from this year in 29.1 IP: 1.84/ 1.06/ .218 . Not too shabby. If I'm not mistaken, he's only making $ 700,000 this year. Anyone like this idea, or is another one of my trade ideas gonna get shot down again?
  2. I don't know, we'll have to wait to see if he can pitch or not to know for sure. I wonder how many other position players, who pitched at least 1 inning, retired with an ERA of 0.00 ? I believe in one of Brenly's MANY Diamondbacks stories, he said he had Grace pitch an inning in a blowout and I'm pretty sure he didn't allow any runs. I do remember Grace pitching an inning, but I'm not sure if he gave up any runs.
  3. I turned the game on a half inning before those hits and saw bot of them. Dawson's homer was pretty awesome, almost an actual regulation homer.
  4. Y'know what, he might be an upgrade over Blanco. If I recall, he's also a pretty descent fielding catcher.
  5. I agree. he will see his RBI numbers increase as Dusty finally realized guys with OBPs lower than their weight should not bat in the top 2 spots in the order. PS- Welcome to the forum!
  6. And I have no problem dealing him to a contender in need of some relief help or a lefty pitcher for the stretch. Rusch was a godsend in the rotation for us this year and last year as a spot starter, but he has not done great recently and its time to sell while we can get value for him. I'm sure the Rangers or Yankees would be interested.
  7. Hey, Bruce, First off, you've done a nice job as a beat writer. Keep it up. Second, do you think part of the problem this season was Hendry's failure to make a move to replace Alou in left and to improve the pen in the offseason? If you think about it, our big off season moves were trading Sosa and Farnsworth and signing Burnitz and Blanco, who might as well not even take a bat up to the plate. Hairston could've started in left to start the season, but Dusty put Hollandsworth out there. Is it possible that the lack of major league talent obtained in the offseason had something to do with this downward spiral?
  8. Just shows you that I'm reading the site every day. Now if we could only get Dusty to do the same... Sadly enough, I dont think it would make a difference.
  9. In Yahoo's pregame bit about today's game: Patterson lost his job to Jerry Hairston after apparently falling out of favor with Baker. Really? Hairston wasnt really getting anymore at bats before CPat's demotion. Or is this just saying Hairston will now be the starting CF?
  10. No offense, but how legit is your friend's information? Where did they hear this from? There are often a lot of crazy rumors around that have no ground to them.
  11. From Rotoworld: Kelly Wunsch - R - Dodgers Kelly Wunsch was unable to enter today's game when he suffered an apparent leg injury while getting ready to make the trek from the bullpen to the mound. Amazing. What else can happen to the Dodgers this year? Instead of bringing in the lefty specialist to face Todd Helton with two men on in the seventh inning, the Dodgers had to go to Franquelis Osoria instead and Osoria gave up a go-ahead, three-run homer. Jul. 7 - 5:17 pm et This has to be harsh on Dodger fans at the moment.
  12. Oh and by the way, I ventured over to the Royals message board for the hell of it and they're all goin crazy thinking we're giving up one of: Pie, Harvey, Dubois, Cedeno, Hill for MacDougal. I just had to laugh, and I just pray Jim isn't stupid enough to do something like that.
  13. Minor league stint? Well, guess that's the next best thing to trading him. Maybe he'll come back playing like he should be. As for MacDougal, I guess why not, as long as we dont give up any big prospects for him. Maybe we can talk Baird into taking Remmy and Macias off our hands.
  14. Rondell White or Craig Monroe anyone? Sorta just thinkin out loud, so don't go after me for a bad idea. Monroe had a nice season last year and is having a somewhat descent year this year. White is also putting up nice numbers and assuming he stays healthy, (I think we know about his injury filled past) I wouldn't mind him on the team. Thoughts?
  15. Lets have a look at this. Does anyone think Speier would make a good manager. Maybe one of the motives the Cubs used to get was he would be a candidate to be future manager. Or just so we would have someone better than Wavin Wendell. Also, I always thought Joe Girardi would make a good manager.
  16. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minors/050705dish.html Tuesday's Daily Dish has a blurb on Pawelek as well as a blurb on former Cub prospect Justin Jones.
  17. from BA's Daily Dish: • David Aardsma, acquired by the Cubs in the LaTroy Hawkins deal earlier this year, has moved back to the bullpen after working almost exclusively as a starter this year in an effort to master his slider. "It had good motion and had the right movement, it was just down--which if you have a problem, I would much rather have that problem than have it up," Aardsma said. "But at least I wasn't giving them anything to hit. I'm really trying to find my slider, I don't care if I give up eight runs, as long as I have that good slider because that's what's gonna get me back up (to the majors)." The righthander from Rice got his second save for Double-A West Tenn by pitching a perfect ninth in a 9-6 win over Huntsville.
  18. No links but I hear that there is no timetable for Nomar's return and Williamson is rehabbing I think in Daytona or Boise. Or I could be wrong.
  19. Per Rotoworld: Bobby Bradley - S - PIT Pirates released RHP Bobby Bradley. Bradley has had massive control problems this year, but that's a first for him and he's still pretty talented. Maybe he'll turn it around elsewhere. It's surprising that the Pirates just released him whether than try to get him through waivers. Jul. 1 - 1:02 pm et He used to be one hell of a good prospect. He's still only 24. Anyone think it's worth a shot to sign him?
  20. It was actually while punching and tossing around some water coolers in the dugout. Still pretty stupid. And then there's Oliver Perez, and I won't get into that.
  21. Congrats, Hoops! You're a great poster. Have fun at the covention!
  22. I was PriorPower on the cubs.com message board and I'm PriorPower on this message board.
