    Here guys....a quote from Bruce Almight's lastest column over at the herald. That's the reason why they signed Johnson, because of the "grit factor." Have fun guys. You should have your eyes checked, pronto!!!! I read it as Bruce making a joke about the grit, and how the Cubs want that, while pointing out that they also need his OBP. And that shade of green is killing my eyes

    2004 CF - Corey Patterson 2B - Mark Grudzielanek RF - Sammy Sosa LF - Moises Alou 1B - Derek Lee 3B - Aramis Ramirez SS - Alex Gonzalez C - Michael Barrett ???? Plus Nomar, kind of. That lineup was pretty stacked. Oh yeah...I forgot about Nomar. ](*,) ](*,) With the addition of Nomar, that was definitely a stacked lineup. Thinking about the potential of that rotation is even more disgusting. I remember 2-3 games after we got Nomar, we were in Colorado for a series, and we were just basically taking turns batting around the order with everyone getting their hits, and I thought that there were basically no holes in the lineup. Whoops forgot about OBP. The lineup was like Patterson, CF Garciaparra, SS Alou, LF Sosa, RF Ramirez, 3B Lee, 1B Walker, 2B Barrett, C The OBP on that team wasn't all that bad. Ramirez- .373 Nomar- .364 Alou- .361 Lee- .356 Walker- .352 Barrett- .337 Barrett- 337 Sosa- .332 Patterson- .320 Not great, but not atrocious. I think we were right at the league average that year in terms of team OBP. Does Barrett count twice?

    Is this pure speculation on your part or did you read it somewhere... I brought this up a while ago and was shot down because of DeRosa's suspect range at SS. I'd love it if the Cubs were to give him a shot there, but I haven't heard it discussed anywhere but this board. Buster Olney had a blog up about a few days ago, and in it, he speculates that if the Cubs do eventually complete a Brian Roberts trade, that DeRo wants to compete for the SS job. And if this is true, this Roberts trade is no longer about is Roberts an upgrade over DeRo, but more about Roberts being a significant upgrade of Theriot. So the possibility is real that DeRo could play SS, if Roberts deal is completed. But has DeRosa taken grounders at SS? What would he be like there?
