Eh. I wonder how much the slot money is. I'm ok with taking Arrieta and seeing if we can't fix something or try him out of the pen. That said, I would've preferred a prospect as opposed to Strop but what's done is done. Not disappointed but not excited either.
Yeah, that's who I would've guessed. He hasnt pitched well his last couple of outings. Sealed his fate. Couldn't bump Wood or Feldman. Also, what's going on with Scott Baker? I haven't heard any news recently.
Yup. I liked the Harden trade at the time, though I was sad trading our favorite ginger outfielder for him. Happy for Donaldson. Didn't think he'd do this well either.
I just noticed that Paul Maholm is 3-0 with zero earned runs and 20K in 20 IP to start the year. Also, Joey Votto currently has a .289 average........and a .542 OBP.
He's been the only consistent member of the pen, aside from Marmol and they probably wanted at least a couple guys up there who likely won't be traded during the season.
So the Yanks' starting lineup to begin the year: Ichiro Jeter Cano Youkilis Travis Hafner Juan Rivera Boesch Fransisco Cervelli Gardner Woof. I could see Gardner having the highest WAR of that group.
Marmol averages 8 BB/9 but somehow has an ERA under 3 at the deadline and some team bites Feldman actually finishes the season with a higher WAR than EJax Garza misses half the season Injuries force Trey McNutt up and he has a Randy Wells-espque flash in the pan season And... Prior makes it happen and gets called up to the majors. Dusty brings him in during the 3rd inning for mop-up duty in a blowout loss and lets him finish the game, causing his arm to actually detach from his body.
